Front Bumpers for 5th Gens

Might not be the right place but quick question....So with bumpers like these if you need to work on the winch or change the winch line (maintain a synthetic winch line) are you able to gain enough access or will you be pulling the bumper in that event?

Something I was thinking about.

I love these bumpers. Definitely considering one since i drive i-90, 33 miles each way to and from college. . Might come in handy for those who dont know how to drive properly. Lol. Anyways looking for a front and rear bumper suggestions looking to spend between $500-1000..
Would love to know the pros and cons of your favorites.

I can only speak for the SSO bumper. The winch is accessible from the top but you will need long arms. One of the nice things about theirs is you can loosen the 2 main bolts, remove the bumper stub bolts, and it will swing down for access. Makes it a little easier to mount also. It has a couple of hooking tabs welded on to hold it over the stubs.

Great thread! This helps a lot. Would be nice to make a collection like this for rear bumpers, sliders, and other armor options and have them stickied.

There is one for sliders in the stickies, I think there are threads for the others but don't think they are stickied. FWIW this thread is right next to the slider thread in stickies.

Does anyone know if Pelfreybilt is planning on making a version of their aluminum bumper that is compatible with 10-13 model years?

I asked [MENTION=111262]pelfreybilt[/MENTION] several months ago and they said that they didn't have plans to since they already have such a large volume of orders to take care of. I guess that's what happens when you make really awesome stuff.

Worst case you can get new headlights and that upper plastic trim piece and THEN it would fit.

Yes, the shape of the bumper is incompatible due to the headlights of the pre-2014s and that /---------\ shaped piece under the front of the hood. If you replace those 3 parts (headlights aint cheap mind you) it will fit.

Look at what [MENTION=78318]RiDE[/MENTION] did with his 2011 4Runner, as he converted it to the newer style.

Edit: I see now that I don't need the Shrockworks trim pieces because the pelfrey bumper comes up to the headlights. [MENTION=78318]RiDE[/MENTION] just has them because he has the SW bumper for the older gen

As far as *I* know, yes. However the previous poster wanted the Pelfrey front bumper, so specifically those pieces are not the question.

I would assume not. They are all slightly different for obvious reasons.

I think it depends where it's mounted to. If they are attach to the headlights mounting point then possibly yes but if they are mounted to the bumper then, no. Just my guess.

I'm currently looking into upgrading my skids. At some point I will likely be getting a steel bumper too. What I'm wondering is, how might the front skid affect my choice of bumpers, if at all? I'd hate to pay for a new front skid and then have to replace it again to get the bumper I want.

The skids aren't going to play into the bumper at all. Completely separate.

If someone made/makes a bumper that limits skid plate choice.....thats going to be a short lived idea.

Im a big fan of the Hefty aluminum version. The look is very unique and flows well with the new models. Just wanting the bull bar higher, just to the top of the grill. Hoping by end of year to have it ordered!

i noticed a pic on their site i hadn't seen before. 2014+ bumper with center and headlight hoops. I'm sure they would do it sans headlight hoops for you, and gives you an idea of what it looks like

I ordered one a couple weeks ago. Chris said the taller bull bar or stinger or whatever you want to call it, was too weak on the aluminum bumper.
