Front diff bearing noise in 2WD

96 3RZ 5 speed

Has anyone had a worn bearing in the front diff making noise?

I have an untraceable light noise like a dry bearing coming from the front end and wonder if it could be from the front diff. It happens in 2WD so can't be a pinion bearing - I suspect either the bearing which supports the RH drive shaft between the diff and the CV shaft (where the ADD mechanism is), or one of the carrier bearings. The noise gets louder when in 4WD, though that might be a separate noise from the transfer.

Has anyone had front diff noise in 2WD?

Check the other thread you started regarding this issue. I think the culprit might be your front differential driver side needle bearing.
