front disc

i need to replace my front disc due to some serious pulsation, should i go stock oem or does any recomend some better alternative.
i just changed my pads a month ago do i replace them again.
i dont want no big brake kit for 2k cant afford it. i love my truck but times are tough these days.

are they better than the oem, i changed the pads a cut the rotors a month ago and i remember having a problem with one rotor wasent cutting right.
anyway shouldi change the pads also.

I like Centric rotors, my front lasted much longer before needing to be turned (I'm hell on brakes) than the OEM rotors and they cost less. Just replaced my rear with Centric as well (@136k mi). FWIW: I'da gone with Brembo, but they don't make them in the smaller diameter rotors, all around. The Centric rotors felt much heavier and robust than the OEM rotors, even the installer commented on it.

I run StopTech pads.

Drastic improvement in braking power over the OEM pads&rotors.

I don't honestly know anymore. I know when I was shopping for front rotors Brembo did not make front rotors in 319mm, but did in 338mm (the 2003 Limited came with 17" wheels, but had the SR5 sized rotors, that changed down the line).

I've also read, lurking on this forum, not to waste your money on the Brembo's for the 4Runner /and/ they are no longer made. You'd have to check into that.

As stated, I run Centric rotors all around... While my rear ones are only a few weeks old, I couldn't be more pleased with my front ones which are a couple of years old and did appear to be of better quality than the OEM rotors, I know they have gone longer before needing to be turned (I'm hell on brakes).

I'm running the Centric's in conjunction with the StopTech Street Performance pads and it is a noticeable improvement over the stock set-up. Though my pads have more "bite" so stopping isn't has smooth/soft as with the OEM set-up, but pedal feel and baking is much improved.

If you really want to spend some money, the StopTech Big Brake Kit for the fronts is pretty darn nice.

I get my stuff from Zeckhausen Racing, I really like the company.

I have nothing against Centric, in fact that's a good choice. My personal choice would be to follow Ducman. I like the Napa Premium and OE pads.


Do you have the SE rotors already? Maybe the answer is to get some calipers for the 338mm rotors, new pads and some Napa rotors (assuming you have 17" or bigger rims). Napa has some fine reman calipers too.

I too have the Centrix Rotors all around from tirerack (or was it Rockauto??) Either way, they are great. No issues. the Brembo rotors for the front worked ok, but I had to wait forever to get them as they were on backorder at the time. I am using Hwk pads, but those things are dusty as HELL!!!! I will be trying the Akebono pads again when I have to replace (had frozen calipers and wore them down all kinds of weird). By the way, I dont turn down rotors, I just buy new ones as I have found rotor life sucks after turning them down.

I went with the top-of-the-line Raybestos front rotors and have had no issues at all. They have tighter machining tolerances than most aftermarket rotors and they also have anti-corrosion coating on the rotor hat. So you shouldn't ever get that rusty look when looking at them through the wheel spokes. Overall, I'm really happy with them and would highly recommend them to anyone.

The Stoptech's I'm using are pretty low on dust, they really bite as well. I take my truck to a brake and alignment shop (they don't do tires), I don't know what kind of rotor turning machine they use, but it beats whatever one the chain-shops around here use. Turned rotors come out looking new as opposed to the other places in town. I'll turn them one or two w/o a problem.
