What are you using? What have you tried that you like or don't like? I'm getting ready to upgrade and would like some advice. I'm using a pioneer head unit that will be putting our 50W per channel.

your radio only put out that many watts at peak power, rms power is about 22. if using the radio to power some door speakers, alpine type s is fine, and also a good factory replacement. if you are planning to use a good amp that has power, i suggest you use some focal or hertz. but to get good sound, try upgrading the speaker and also sound deaden the whole door. youll be amaze.

Speakers are very much a personal taste thing. I'd recommend going to a store with a good selection of speakers and listen to some of them. Obviously listening to them in a vehicle would be better but the store is better than nothing and at least you can do a good comparison in an neutral environment.

As riceandpho said-Sound deadening is HUGE and it only takes a small amount of coverage to net big results. Focal and Hertz are both fantastic brands too.

If you are only running the head unit for power I'd look for speakers with higher sensitivity. I'm running CDT speakers and love them. Great value but not a main line brand.

i think i spend alot towards my audio gear than everyone here, everyone else here spend on suspension and such. im about to swap my unit out to the pioneer 80prs, nice upgrade from the 860 i have, i need usb and bt now. i think hertz esk sound good on radio power only. save up and do a real nice sound stage upfront with 3 way active set. focal, morel, hertz, dynaudio, hybrid audio to name a few.

If you have the jbl synthesis system then I recommend Infinity 9632cf. They are working great for me and match the two ohms of the stock system so you get the best sound possible from stock head and amp.

So i recently replaced the stock hu with the touchscreen pioneer from scion FRS . the new unit is nice since it has HD radio and sounds a world of difference. The unit however does not have rca outputs in the back. And I dont mind swapping out the stock speakers. Can I just directly swap speakers or need amp ? Can amp be added without rca outputs? Thanks guys.

I have the Alpine Type R 6.5" component set in the front doors and Alpine Type R 6.5" rear door speakers. They are powered by a Pioneer Amp under the passenger seat. I used Tacotunes for the adapters and while getting the adapters was a COMPLETE NIGHTMARE as most are used to, once recieved they are perfect. Very happy with my setup.
