front end body work...

I get frustrated every time I look at the front end of my T4. As near as I can tell, its been in no less than 3 front end wrecks with the previous owner. Mtn.Runner built me a badass bumper, so now I just need to fix this blasted gap panel underneath the headlights(pictured below).

Was hoping anyone with body work experience has some advice to help me out? I also need to realign the headlights- their mounts are bent so I need to get them straight with some shims or something and jb weld in place. The last thing is the hood latch has some play in it, so my hood bounces a bit at highway speeds- is there some way to tighten that down? adjust the latch or something? Thanks for any pointers you guys have

I think I can help with the rattling hood issue. I was driving my dads Tundra the other day and noticed that it was doing the same thing. Not sure if the 4R is the same, but it's worth a look. Open your hood, and there should be some like black rubber bumpers toward the front of the vehicle on the under side of the hood. Just pull those out a little and viola, problem solved. The ones I did were not threaded (helical), but I turned them like I was unscrewing them and pulled out at the same time and you'll notice as they back out, there are several notches in the rubber isolator that allow you to fine tune the fitment to the hole in the hood.

Dad's Tundra hood was replaced at some point and I'm sure the body shop, like whoever repaired yours, just jammed those rubber bumpers in as deep as they'd go and called it a day.

As far as how the other panels and headlights fit... I've had to slot or oblong mounting holes in the past when repairing body panels after collisions in order to get everything to align back properly.

For the gap below the headlights, it looks like the bezel underneath the headlight is bent. I'd remove your radiator cover so you can detach the bezels and try and straighten them out.

For the actual headlights, if the gray plastic parts of the housing are bent out of shape, use a heat gun to warm the plastic and try to reshape them. All else fails, you can spring for some replacement headlights from amazon, I've heard good things about the DEPO brand.

For the hood latch, I'd recommend just looking at the attachments both underneath the hood and in the grill area, and tighten down any loose bolts.

Thanks for the tip sluggercz, I should be able to tweak that bottom piece tomorrow. I'll post what I find and fix.

The headlights are tricky, it looks like a couple of the headlight assembly mounts are just gone. its pretty janky. I'll post what I find and fix.
