Hey guys I need some help. I am leaving NH Friday morning and Im driving to Florida. We are moving south so the wife will be driving the Runner with the kids (9 months and 2 1/2) and towing a small trailer. Recently the Runner started making a thumping noise in the front end. I havent really checked it out yet as it seems to snow every few days here. I was thinking it was just the sway bar endlink or something like that. Thats what it sounds like anyways. Well yesterday I went to Home Depot and they have speed humps in the parking lot. Maybe 2-3 inches high but about 2 feet wide. So its not a jarring BUMP but it loads and unloads the suspension pretty good. I usually hit them at about 8-10 MPH, ( kids like it) and never really have any issues. It didnt make a noise when I hit the hump or when it went down the other side, but when it came back up to level out it made a pretty good THUMP. Enough to feel on the floor. Its a 2004 V8 Sport with 145,000 miles. Its going into the dealer to get a oil change wed. and Im going to have them look at it. Just looking for ideas on what it could be. I just dont want them to tell me I need the front end rebuilt and all it actually was was the swaybar endlinks.
Thanks for any help.
