Front end replacement/upgrade

I am wanting to replace my rotors and ball joints when I do an OME lift on my 2001 4Runner 4wd. I figure while I’m replacing everything else I might as well put new hubs and bearings on. My question is does anyone sell a hub that has the bearing installed already or will I have to get the bearing pressed on regardless. Another question i have is since the 2001 sits lower than the 99 do they use the same ball joints and control arms? If not would it make since to swap to the 99 if they fit since they are made for a higher ride height?

96-02 have same Identical front ends. Minus the front differentials. Now why do you want to replace the wheel bearings and hubs ? If they don't make noise then they are good. You can find KOYO Wheel bearing on eBay for $60. Which is OEM bearing just not in a toyota box. As far as seals go. There are 2 per side. And one of them is expensive. I forget which one. So that will add up quickly. And no, no one sells them pressed on. The wheel bearing is pressed into the spindle. And the hub is pressed in. It's a pain in the ass. Especially if you don't have proper tools and never did it before.

The hubs was just one of those things where I honestly dont know much about on a 4Runner and thought well if everything else is new then why not but again they don’t make noise so since it is more of a pain than some other vehicles I have been involved with I probably won’t do the hubs or bearings. It's all a matter of opinion. If it were me I'd replace the bearings since you're already going to have the front apart. It'll sure beat having to potentially pull it apart again down the road.

If you're going as far as removing the spindles you might as well replace the CV boots, because you're going to blow them within a couple months anyways. Most people experience this after installing a lift due to boots being old, and the OEM boots not holding up to a lift.

Also, if you're going as far as the boots I'd look at the tie rod ends too. This will give you a refreshed front end with the exceptions of control arms bushings. The uppers are pretty easy, and the lower are an ****ing nightmare.

I'm only making these suggestions due to experience with having other items fail shortly after installing various suspension parts.

Each member will tell you different opinions. If a wheel bearing is good. Then it's good. Lifting the truck won't have any impact on the wheel bearings. I agree with [MENTION=98153]MStudt[/MENTION]. Replace the cv boots with extended boot. And check your tie rods while your out at it. But if you want to replace the wheel bearings. By all means go for it. Only reason why I replaced mine. Was due to mud and water destroying them from off roading.

Speaking of mud/muddy water. I went hunting 2 weekends ago and splashed through a shallow puddle maybe 3in deep and for the next several hundred yards my front driverside wheel area we will say started making a hell of a racket sounding like metal on metal when in drive and moving(at any speed) but not in reverse. I didnt see anything hung like a rock or anything so i still dont know what caused that noise as it stopped once i turned the wheel all the way to the left then right when i was looking to see if something was pinned down there causing the noise.

Can you buy the whole thing axle hub all one pice and just throw it on?
