Front end work.

I just renewed the idler arm on my 87. The steering feels much better at high speeds now but there is a tiny bit of shimmy around 60. But that could be from the tire wear caused by the idler arm. I'll know after a rotation and balancing and a new alignment.

While I was under there, I power washed the steering and was noticing the steering damper. It looks like the original and has 250k miles on it. Could it be causing any problems in an otherwise good front end and how might I check it out?

A worn out stabilizer shouldn't cause a problem (other than not doing it's job).

Yours is waay overdue for replacement.
