Front factory skid plate rusting off! Replace??

Besides protecting the oil pan it also serves as a splash guard to help prevent water from splashing up onto engine electrical components.
I'm amazed it's rusting away. My 05 4runner's skid plate is fine....no signs of rust what-so-ever. And while this last winter here in NH wasn't bad...the previous 5 years were.

Since I grease the driveshaft at every oil change, I'm under the 4R quite often. Frame looks fine.

My 4Runner is an '03 bought and driven in New York for a while. I live in Oregon where the roads aren't salted. I've got some rust to deal with underneath. Other than the under carriage, for 100K, it's very clean and all the major maintenance was completed. I'll be using POR-15, wire brushing and replacing bolts.... not looking forward to it.
I do like that skid plate, but it'd be a hard sell to the wife since I'm lifting it.

I have seen probably 30 4runners in my quest for the one and MANY of them had substantial rust. If I could offer some advice, get some access to some air and a wire brush attachment for the craftsman equivalent of an air powered dremel (I have the part # Ill have to get it later). Take a day and scrub ALL of your undercarriage rust off and spray with some undercarriage anti-rust paint. Toyotas HATE salt and that rust will just eat her to pieces. They had a recall on 99-ish Tundras for corrosion issues and my Dad has his entire frame replaced. If you are in the salt belt, give her a scrub, and coat of anti-rust paint. It will make the truck last longer.

I tookmine off, cleaned it with POR15 "marine clean", prepped it with some other treatment they sell, then 2 solid coats of black POR15! Looks damn good!

Does it have the hole to access the oil pan drain, or does it need to be removed???

My 2004 continues to rust away... Front skid plate was gone a few years ago with the muffler heat shield. The other day the plate under the oil pan started flapping... When I went to remove it I noticed the protection around the fuel tank is about 30% gone as well.

My 04 V8 lives in salted CT all her life and the front, fuel tank and exhaust plate are all rusty through. That's why Google brought me here.
Should I replace them or just took them off?
I would replace them, especially the gas tank shield.
