Front Seat Help?!

Hi all,

I've been a longtime follower of the forum as I have pieced back together the interior of my 87 4Runner, but now I need some help. An amp was installed under the front passenger seat and that apparently required the removal of the underseat cables and release handle:doh:. So I have a seat that cannot move, making it a tad difficult to use the back seat. Obviously I'm missing cables and a handle, but it seems something else is also MIA. The factory schematics I have found are not very useful, maybe someone can point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Lucky you just happen to have my seat out :) You are looking at the seat from behind with front of bottom cushion on the floor.

Good time for a run to the local Pick and Pull or LKQ to look under a seat with your camera. I'd be curious to know if other similar vintage Toyota cars used some of the same components, increasing the donor pool for your needed parts.

Here is an epic thread on how to do it cheaply with mountain bike brake cables:

This thread lists the part#. Google for the best price. I think they're about $40 but on eBay they're selling for $80+.

89 4runner passenger seat release cable - YotaTech Forums

Here it is for $38. I'm going to go grease mine now...

Toyota - CABLE ASSEMBLY, SEAT TRACK Part Number: 72210-89105

Yea I think im gunna go grease mine now too :police:

Thanks everyone! For some reason I thought there was a release handle under the seat like on the truck. I will get one ordered unless the local dealer has it...

in your picture in post #1, your release "handle" is in the lower left corner. it is a foot pedal, placed there for the rear passenger to be able to release the seat to get out. the other release "handle" is the seat adjust lever on the side (toward the door) that angles the seat back. if the lever is pulled, and the seat back allowed to come all the way forward, the entire seat will then be able to slide forward.

This part is still readily available, here's the part number 72210-89105. It typically runs 35 bucks online.
