Front Spring Sag?

While I was changing differential/transfer fluid on my 06 Sport yesterday, I noticed the front lower control arm is only about 1/2 to 3/4 inch from hitting the bump stop mounted on the frame. Correct me, if I'm wrong, but even 3/4 inch of compression travel isn't much if I ever hit a speed bump.

Now, if any one happen to be working on your car tonight, or changing oil or what not, I would greatly appropriate if you can check your 4Runner to see they the small gap i have observed is normal. Of course, this check can only be done if all four wheel is sitting on the ground, or in my case, on four ramps.

Just went out to confirm the actually gap between the bump and the lower control arm. It's a lot smaller then I thought....

Since the lower control arm in an angle, the gap is ranging from 1/2 inch to 1/4 inch :jaw drop:

I also noticed the CV shaft is actually angling upward. Not sure if that's normal...

Actually, that is pretty normal (weird, I know! ) . I would measure the height from the ground to your fender and some other guys at stock heights might be able to chime in and compare heights.

All normal.

It's also why it's ok on the CVs to lift the 4Runner because the half shafts angle upwards towards the wheel. After lifting the 4Runner it puts the half shafts angling down.

I measured on the side from the ground to the tip center of the wheel well. It's about 33 1/2". But also note that I have 265/70/17 tire vs the 265/65/17 stock size.

I did try to raise up the front end by using the floor jack, and it took another 2" lift (measuring from the top of the wheel well) to straighten out the CV shaft.

In any case, since this is consider normal, I'll go ahead and move on to something else to worry about. :

Next up. possible leaky front shock.....

I'd say normal but your inner CV boot is ready for a 're-clamp' job...

You are right. The problem is I can't seems to find the right kind of replacement clamp locally. The only kind I am able to find basically glorified metal zip tie. I would prefer the kind that required the CV clamp tool to tighten the metal permanently.
