Front tires rubbing question

I have a 2016 Limited with 6112s in the front and 5100s in the rear with stock coils. I also have TRD Pro wheels with 265 70 17s Nitto Terra Grappler G2s and SpiderTrax spacers and I have a significant amount of rubbing starting around 50-60% lock. I'm pretty sure it's the fender liner and my question is...do I need to do the mod or can I eliminate the rubbing with increased lift in the front? I'm surprised that I'm rubbing with only 265's and spacers. Thanks in advance.

Lifting further will likely not make a lick of difference. You need to either remove the Spidertrax Spacers or (remove mudflaps and/or fender liner mod, & if needed, BMC)
 
Okay thanks but maybe I should have also added that I rubbed slightly (less than now) without the spacers and while I still had the X-REAS. Also, I'd hate to remove the spacers...it looks so much better with them!
 
I used 265/70/17 tires on FX Pro wheels without spacers and it rubbed. Had to do a bit of a fender mod to fix it. I was surprised that 265s rubbed, but it was probably due to to the offset of the wheels. A little shaving and rubbing problem solved. BTW - I lifted a couple of inches and still had rubbing.

Thanks but that's not happening, those are some nice wheels though :). I'm pretty sure it's the little rib that sticks out on the front side of the fender liner. Also, I'm not generally a fan of spacers but the SpiderTrax spacers have a pretty good reputation on this platform and TAP indicated that I'd most likely need spacers to avoid rubbing. I'm pretty sure that it will require less massaging to fix than my BudBuilt hidden winch mount did to make it fit :)
 
Are you rubbing at the front of the tire or the rear of the tire? When I went to bigger tires I was rubbing the inside corner of the front bumper and the liner above it. So I had to trim the corner off of the bumper with an exacto knife and move the liner forward.

Please elaborate. I have heard rumors that wheel spacers can put additional strain on the wheel bearings and age them faster, but beyond that, what would spacers do to other components of the suspension? There are a fair amount of folks here that run wheel spacers and I have not heard of any premature failing of wheel bearings. How are wheel spacers any different then wheels with the equivalent offset/backspacing?
 
The 1.25 spacers are minimal in size and not placing much more load on the robust 4runner bearings IMO. You see Ricers running 4''+ spacers on weak uni-bearings and getting 100K! Yes there is an increased load, but it is low in relation to the design of the front suspension, and 0 concern on the rear.

Not an expert here, but it has to do with spring compression and how it effects the travel of the springs, hurting them prematurely.
Check out YouTube videos of "Filthy Motorsports", they've got some great videos on suspensions, explaining the do's and dont's.
 
I have SpyderTrax spacers, TRD wheels and Nitto G2 tires ( Same size as you ) on my Trail with 6112 in front set at 2 inch. It will still rub. Just do front fender mod and trim front bumper where you are rubbing and you will be fine. I have no issues since mod.

Thanks, that's next on my list of 'to do'. Just finished up the hidden winch mount install and didn't butcher the bumper too badly. Planning on doing sliders and fender mod this weekend.

I don't understand much about this, but how could you have had rubbing without the spacers when you didn't change the tire size from factory? The factory tires don't rub and they are all the same size. Bridgestone Duelers that came on my 2017 are 31.65 high and 10.7 wide. These are exactly the same specs as the Nitto, K02, and all other 265-70-17 tires I can find.

I am putting a 3" ToyTec Ultimate lift on mine and keeping tire size stock. I do hope that I don't find rubbing after the lift. In fact I would think there would be less chance of a rub.

Thoughts?
