Just did the drivers side this weekend. after doing one last week, this one took about 45 minutes.
Tire was a bear to get off though!
We really are not sure why. I took that tire off before last year and they were torqued back down to 100ft lbs with a torque wrench.
didnt see rust on the inside on the wheel.
hub was pretty rusty though so maybe that had something to do with it.
Glad I didn't get a flat. Would have been a nightmare to change!!
it has something to do with rust. the rim pretty much cemented itself to the hub. i always spread an anti seize compound to the hub and to the rim to avoid it from happening. it's now easier to remove it even after a year.We really are not sure why. Anyone have any reviews for Jersey Built Hubs vs. Marion? Wheel bearings went out today on my passenger side and I need to get this done.
I picked up an assembly at Toyota... but it seems you can only buy the bearing assembly and the hub assembly separately... and I don't have a bearing press. So I gotta return it and order something new.

If you tackled the TB and WP, then changing out a wheel bearing assembly will be a breeze.
I did mines in -11*f in a non-insulated garage. If you understand the concept of nuts and bolts, this shouldn't take more than an hour or two. Remove the brake caliper and rotor. Remove the axle nut. Undo the 4 bolts holding the bearing assembly to the knuckle, then bang it off. Install is just the reversal.
I ended up doing it myself and not being able to find consistent time to work on it, took me 2 weeks (due to work and life schedule). Now finding out my calipers and rotors needed replacing as well and pretty much everything up front took me a while
Quick note to all. This is where you want to buy the best wheel bearing/ hub assemblies.
Wheel Bearings & Hubs Press Service *** 4x4 *** PreRunner *** NSK*** | Tacoma World
He uses NSK bearings and warranties his work. I put mine in the Taco last summer and have been impressed. Dont buy cheap ones, as others note above.
Just message 05Taco4x4 to get started.
If anyone is looking for these assemblies, at least the 4wd ones, go over to tacomaworld.com and search 05Taco4x4. He usually has these on hand ready to ship same day or next day. $330 and comes with new axle nuts/cotter pins and the spindle seals! Great communication, replies within the hour but usually much faster. Highly recommend.

How are yours holding up?
He does OE bearings (NSK), but currently uses Dorman hubs. I'm considering getting these instead of the full OEM assembly that bluepitbearings.com offers, so wondering how yours have held up.
