Front Wheel Bearing Hub Assembly

I saw those but was worried about the chinese bearing. I wanted a japan made bearing in mine just like the factory setup had.

thanks for the link!

Just did the drivers side this weekend. after doing one last week, this one took about 45 minutes.

Tire was a bear to get off though!

We really are not sure why. I took that tire off before last year and they were torqued back down to 100ft lbs with a torque wrench.

didnt see rust on the inside on the wheel.

hub was pretty rusty though so maybe that had something to do with it.

Glad I didn't get a flat. Would have been a nightmare to change!!

The wheel shouldn't be rusty since it's an alloy, but it can corrode, that along with the rust on the hub could make it stick I guess, thought maybe it was the lug nuts rusted badly.

it has something to do with rust. the rim pretty much cemented itself to the hub. i always spread an anti seize compound to the hub and to the rim to avoid it from happening. it's now easier to remove it even after a year.

radlynx,

thanks! I'll try that next time I remove the tire for rotation!

Anyone have any reviews for Jersey Built Hubs vs. Marion? Wheel bearings went out today on my passenger side and I need to get this done.

I picked up an assembly at Toyota... but it seems you can only buy the bearing assembly and the hub assembly separately... and I don't have a bearing press. So I gotta return it and order something new.

buy from the guy on tacomaforums--his shipping seems to be much better than everyone else's.

Both seem to use quality parts. I've used jersey built hubs before the tacoma guy was a thing. absolutely no issues in over 4 years. it shipped quick, packed well and worked as expected. I recently replaced a drivers side wheel hub due to a abs sensor issue (long story) anyway, Marion was only willing to ship out in pairs so I went back to Jersey built hubs to get one single side shipped and years later the service and parts continued to be fine.

Honestly, either one is fine imo

If you tackled the TB and WP, then changing out a wheel bearing assembly will be a breeze.

I did mines in -11*f in a non-insulated garage. If you understand the concept of nuts and bolts, this shouldn't take more than an hour or two. Remove the brake caliper and rotor. Remove the axle nut. Undo the 4 bolts holding the bearing assembly to the knuckle, then bang it off. Install is just the reversal.

I ended up doing it myself and not being able to find consistent time to work on it, took me 2 weeks (due to work and life schedule). Now finding out my calipers and rotors needed replacing as well and pretty much everything up front took me a while

I had similar crap luck. Driverside wheel bearing. Then noticed passenger side caliper crapped out day later. Fun back to back days in -10*F temps.

Quick note to all. This is where you want to buy the best wheel bearing/ hub assemblies.

Wheel Bearings & Hubs Press Service *** 4x4 *** PreRunner *** NSK*** | Tacoma World

He uses NSK bearings and warranties his work. I put mine in the Taco last summer and have been impressed. Dont buy cheap ones, as others note above.

Just message 05Taco4x4 to get started.

I agree that 05Taco4x4 does a great job, he responds quickly and his prices are good, the only concerns I have is that he only guarantees his "press work" or his assembling of the parts he uses....AND that's only if you haven't installed them, most people wouldn't know if the parts are assembled correctly simply by looking at them, incorrect assembly most likely won't be apparent until they are installed and the vehicle driven, IMHO, I also would think if he buy the parts that he would also honor the warranty on the parts as well, I would also like his product better if he used Koyo bearings.

SO all in all I would recommend him with a warning that there's really no warranty to speak of.

SO, my truck developed a rather hoorid grinding noise, while in 4wd, noise appears to be from the drivers side, a rythmical whoop whoop with a metallic rubbing sound thrown in at first i thought it was the cv axle, but careful inspection showed all was good, the mechanic then did the tyre shake and said its the hub.

am wondering if anyother thing could be responsible?, like say the differential. right now am driving the truck only on 2wd move.
any ideas?

If anyone is looking for these assemblies, at least the 4wd ones, go over to tacomaworld.com and search 05Taco4x4. He usually has these on hand ready to ship same day or next day. $330 and comes with new axle nuts/cotter pins and the spindle seals! Great communication, replies within the hour but usually much faster. Highly recommend.

How are yours holding up?
He does OE bearings (NSK), but currently uses Dorman hubs. I'm considering getting these instead of the full OEM assembly that bluepitbearings.com offers, so wondering how yours have held up.

So far so good. I forget exactly how long I've had them but no issues.
