Front Wheel Bearing Question

Is blue pit bearings still the go-to on these? or are there better options out there? I don't want to cut corners, but I am also down for checking out different prices...let me know what you guys think

i went with marionbumper2bumper.com, he provides a 2 year warranty on uses all OEM stuff, takes about a week to deliver, but the quality is amazing!

Also the reason I ask isn't even for my 4Runner. My buddy has an 06 with 190k on it and he had a CEL pop on for C1223 "Malfunction in ABS Control System". He has described the abs kicking on before when hitting the brakes normally and even a "slipping feeling" like the pads aren't catching either. We replaced the calipers pads and rotors on his with good stuff not but a few months ago and he hasn't reported that feeling back since then, but this CEL has happened since then and I'm thinking it may possibly be a wheel bearing. Especially given the mileage and symptoms. I'm thinking the new braking parts have helped mask the old symptoms which could be the wheel bearing?

What do you guys think? I have yet to inspect the bearing myself but I plan on doing that soon. He goes to school out of town though so it may be awhile before he's back.
 
Just an FYI, all the suppliers mentioned in this topic have a good product....BUT their warranty has turned me in another direction, all of them only give the warranty on the parts/pieces of the assemblies, then you have to pay for return shipping, them assembling another and shipping back to you.....so I going to go with a NAPA bearing assembly that has a limited lifetime warranty, NAPA stores are just about everywhere and so if the assembly ever goes bad during the time I own my T4R I will just take it back and get a new one.

The lifetime warranty bearing assembly is their "NAPA Solutions" line.
 
I purchased multiples of the chinese ripoff bearing and hubs separately from Ebay and Amazon. I have 2 complete hub and bearing assemblies and pressed them together myself for less than 1/8th the cost of a dealer part. By the way, over 90% of the sellers who claim that they are selling original "Koyo" bearings are just lying or being duped themselves without knowing it and have no way of confirming that what they are selling is real or an elaborate scam. I used to work for the company who owns koyo and was shocked to find that people who were not on the JTEKT distributor list actually thought that they had legitimate Koyo parts when in fact everything they were selling was chinese faked. It was pretty easy to tell that their parts were faked when they were selling them at a "profit" for below what the Koyo parts book was showing for dealer cost.

Now, I just assume every US parts company is lying and go with the cheapest chinese fakes I can find since they are all the same anyways and save myself the hassle of trying to weed through the junk to find actual japanese parts.

See, this is what I mean:

You can get 2 of the exact same ripoff chinese part for less than the ripoff dorman part, which is actually chinese anyways. So what exactly is the advantage of going with one fake part over another fake part?
 
At least some are honest it's shown as made in china. :frusty:

Do you have a recommendation of where to purchase wheel bearings?

Yes! If you are talking about just the Koyo bearing and you want to press it in yourself, Anyone on this page:

Koyo Bearings Distributors - JTEKT North America

If they are not a distributor for Jtekt, it is HIGHLY likely that they are selling you fake parts since there would be no way they could acquire legit JTEKT part numbers at dealer cost.

I did see that a factory wheel bearing assembly from Toyotaparts deal is only 147.25 now. That is super cheap for a non-fake part that will probably last 25 years.

Sorry to disagree with you on this one. I bought a set from them. They went bad in less than a year. I tried to get in touch with him every way possible. Crickets. They may have been good as I used them based on recommendations in this forum, but they are Horrible Now.

That's what I heard before I went with the Dorman/KOYO unit on ebay. I got it in 4 days, has a 12 month warranty, and is a fair price. Just my two cents...

I had my local Napa look up the bearings and they had Koyo and they were about $78 each. Are you saying that Napa is selling fake Chinese versions because of that low price? I’m genuinely curious about this because I’ve read a lot about fake Denso spark plugs and other stuff being sold by parts stores, Amazon, etc.

My plan is to buy new bearings and seals, but rebuild mine for 2 reasons. One being that I’ve rebuilt assemblies like this many times in the past and have a press and all the adapters. The second is that I need longer studs for my Fuel wheels, so it would be easy to swap those while everything is apart.
