Front Wheel Bearing??

[Louisville4Runner]

124K miles, getting a high frequency vibration from 35mph and on up from either the front left or right wheel. It goes away at highway speeds when turning right. Most likely the front bearing is bad. Couple of issues here. Dealer can't figure out which side is bad and they are quoting $700 to fix. Any suggestions? Its annoying, willing to pay to get it to go away.

There could be a few things. A couple things that may apply are, if you are 4WD are the following;

CV axle,

differential housing issues,

Could be a front wheel hub assembly.

Many other things....

Would get a 2nd opinion from another shop.

Thanks Overland. From what I can tell from reading other threads on here, it looks like it's the front wheel hub assembly...but will get another quote. I see where I can buy one for $250-$270ish online, just not mechanically inclined enough to handle on my own. Love the truck and will drive it forever.

I picked mine up here. And it is a very simple swap to do.

If you have ever replaced your brake pads, your only a few steps away from removing the wheel bearing. Basic hand tools & you can rent a torque wrench for the axle nut from Auto Zone if you don't have one.
