Front Windshield Tint

What are everyone's thoughts on this?

Guy quoted me $80 to tint the whole front windshield with 50% tint. How is visibility going to be at night? I got my 4runner tinted today with:

50% front windows
35% rear passenger windows
20% quarter windows
5% back window

I love this set up. I like how from back back you can't see in at all, even with the car parked directly towards the sun. I also like how the two front windows with 50% are barely noticeable. It makes the windows look "thicker" is the best way to describe it. And I like how if you look at an angle through the rear passenger windows you can see a bit of the driver/passenger.

That is a good price. My visibility is good at night. It really seems to help with glare.

I'll get some photos up in about a week or so, after I install my lift.

The 50% is barely noticeable so I don't think it should be a problem.

The only problem I have is the back window. 5% tint is nice during the day but sucks driving at night. The back window was already 20% from the factory. 20 x .05 = 1% tint. I'm thinking of retinting it with 50% but even than 50% x 20% = 10%.

What do you guys do for the back window? I know a lot have 5% but night driving with it sucks. Should I retint it with 50% or leave the 5% on there or take the 5% off and leave it alone?

I have 20% on top of the factory tint which works great for me. I have no problems seeing out at night but I also don't have to use my mirror dimmer. During the day it does look a little lighter than the sides just because of all the light coming in through the windshield. I had 5% on when I first bought it, but it was too dark at night and I think 50% would be a waste of money.

Cool, thanks for the useful advice. So that narrows my choice down for back window to 20% or 35% or even 50%.

I think I know how to solve this problem. What tint percentage is the dimmer on the mirror? Whatever percentage it is that's the tint I should go with. You mentioned that you went with 20% and you could see fine, I'm wondering if the mirror tint is 20%. Anyone know?

I would not tint my whole front windshield. I use sunglasses.

So if someone pulls out in front of you or cuts into your lane and hits you it's your fault if your front windshield is tinted? Come on now that can't be right..

in some states its illegal to have tint in front, u can have tint infront as long it pass a certain amount of light in. If the cops are smart , they will try to inepect both partys car and try to blame the guy with tint since it obstruct their view.

by all means do what you feel like doing to what you own, but you take a risk by being caught.

It kind of turns me on to tell you the truth. Think I'll drive with my two front windows up at all times just to see how long it will take me to get pulled over.

50% really is nothing. If a cop is driving behind me and pulls up next to me you can barely tell my front two windows are tinted, sure the 50% windshield makes things a bit darker but its not that bad.
