Up for sale is my 2002 T4R 4x4 Sport Edition in Thunder Cloud Metallic with 181xxx on the clock.
I bought this truck about 2 months ago to help with my cross-country (Atlanta to Seattle) move. I was hoping to find a 4Runner that was mechanically sound and in my price range so that I could buy it, use it, and sell it; I wasn't particularly concerned with the exterior or interior. I was very pleased to find this truck! Not only did everything check out on the mechanical side, the exterior and interior are in great shape! The body shows some wear in the form of nicks and scratches (I think one of the PO wasn't very good at tying things to the roof rack) and the interior also shows some use, but both are in good shape considering the age of the vehicle.
To prepare for my move, I made some repairs and upgrades:
I'm not 100% certain what is factory standard on the Sport Edition, so I'll note a couple of features here:
I was so impressed with how well this truck did over my journey. The first day was 17 straight hours and it did beautifully. In the interest of full disclosure, I did Atlanta to Iowa, then Iowa into St. Cloud, MN, on the first two days, then from St. Cloud into Badlands National Park, then to Bozeman, MT, then into North Bend, WA on the final day. This took me over the Continental Divide and through a couple passes between Missoula and Coeur d'Alene, and the climb out of Vantage after crossing the Columbia River. Below are a couple screen grabs of the histograms that I was tracking via my bluetooth OBD adapter. I believe these are useful in describing the condition of the vehicle because I was hauling over 1500lbs in the 4Runner and towing over 5000lbs (MR2 + Uhaul Auto Transport). This thing is a beast...all three trans temp histograms show solid 65-75 deg transmission temps, with only small spikes up around 100. The transmission didn't even get above 91 going over the Continental Divide...crazy!
Tank 1 - Day 5 - Bozeman through Missoula (Over Continental Divide)
Tank 2 - Day 5 - Outside Missoula through Spokane (Over two particularly nasty mountain passes outside of Coeur d'Alene)
Tank 3 - Day 5 - Outside Spokane to North Bend (Through a wind storm in E.Washington, up the LONG haul from Vantage and up Snoqualmie Pass)
This T4R is located in Marysville, WA. I have the title in hand (GA title) but this truck does not have plates. You'll need to apply for a WA title when you get your plates. I was advised by the woman at the DMV that they are now collecting sales tax based on value, not based on the quoted value on a Bill of Sale, FYI. Asking $9700 obo.
