SOLD Farewell to this beautiful girl and thank you for your interest!
Automatic SR5 22R-E EFI. Garaged for most of her life. Daily driver, nearly stock excepting cosmetic exterior OEM replacements and necessary mechanical repairs/replacements. Giant post is giant; I love this girl and I hate to sell her, and I want her to go to somebody who’ll treat her right. Turn her into a rock crawler or restore her to stock, but love her only like a T4R nut can.

The Good
Single-family car.
Have service records, but there are gaps. No early service records (oldest ’97).
147,120 on the ODO, original miles.
Original engine.
Inclinometer.
Replaced alternator winter of 2012.
Brakes done 04/2013.
Leaf springs not spongy!
Replaced. Every. CV boot. At least once. (Until I learned how not to tear the bloody things and drive like a not-moron.)
Front and rear passenger interior in good condition.
Factory roll bar.
JVC stereo with itty bitty remote, fancy custom color split display.
Infinity speakers in front units, old Sony components in back. Still sound great.
Partly good, partly bad--wiring harness ready to accept your own unit (a la Crutchfield), but it was Frankensteined when I got the girl for my eighteenth, so there’s a bit of a rat’s nest beyond the ready harness.
New rear taillight lens covers, both sides.
Headlights around a year old, bright white. I do believe I yet have a spare.
Regular oil changes, latest using heavyweight oil. [20W50]
Always passed emissions--no test yet this year.
Custom dashmat.
Limo tint in the back, as dark as legal in the front.
Original spare tire tools/other tools from Toyota.
Spare tire/wheel tucked under, rotated when tires rotated regularly. Haven't checked it since last rotation, though.
No rust!
The Bad
Cosmetic roughness, especially bumpers.
Front and rear bumpers missing plastic ends (I actually have some new OEM plastic bits for you to take with her, if you’re so inclined).
Depending on how you feel about it: Spider-Man steering wheel cover.
Cracked climate control panel.
Chip in the windshield that’s been there since pre-97, and thank whoever hasn’t grown.
Front rock guard valance bumper thingy is definitely lived-in.
Michelins nearing end of tread life.
Wheels replaced with...three less than pretty originals. One is real noice, though!
Topper has definitely lost the black. Highly sun-faded (even for garaged car).
Missing driver’s side black panel (see pics).
Cargo area upholstery torn. Not the prettiest even after cleaning.
No working deck lamps.
Driver's side armrest detached, only have one screw to pop it back on.
Primered spot on rear quarter.
Rear power window works fine, but black Toyota bar is slightly away from body.
Left signal finicky.
The Ugly
Bent tie rod. Pulls right. ~$180 to fix, depending on how awesome your mechanic is (or you are, of course).
Restored Salvage title--in better condition than when she was totaled. See the story to hear about that lovely incident.
Underbits have gone a while since the last de-greasing.
Her hundred-dollar paint job, or what’s left of it (especially on the hood).
Four-wheel drive hubs stuck--will need to be replaced or freed by somebody who knows what they be doin’.
No A/C.
The Story
Passed down three generations. Granddad bought her new, stepfather bought from his momma, and passed unto me as a wee child. I've driven her for eleven years and loved her to death. She's my baby and I hate to see her go. In my younger years I didn’t treat her as well as I should have, but out of ignorance rather than neglect (though looking at my young self I’d call it the same thing).
I was hit by a moron who decided to not look whilst changing lanes, and both the 4Runner’s front wheels did a BTF DeLorian on me. The awesome thing is that the insurance adjuster said hey, I’ll cut you the check, fix this damage and she’ll be good as new(ish). The beauty of the situation is that, aside from the craptastic paintjob (which looks great from afar, the rear, and sides) the bodywork was superb, the frame remains completely and utterly unbent, and the replaced steering components brought the girl into even better shape than she was pre-bang-up.
She’s burned a bit of oil since I’ve had her, and it suddenly and recently got worse (April ’13)with “dreamclouds of exhaust” in my mechanic’s words. The solution was to add heavyweight oil which seems to have done her good, but please note this may affect emissions.
Otherwise she runs smooth during the summer, a bit rough on cold mornings to start but once she gets going she’s fine. She’s served me well and I seriously hate to lose her, so I want her to go somewhere where she’ll get to go out on the rocks and get roughed up in the fun way or be babied and loved in a garage once more.
