I'm selling my 1988 4Runner 22R-E 4 cylinder motor, 157,000+ mi, 5 speed transmission, new alternator, spark plugs & wires, valve cover gasket and grommets, front brakes & rotors, rear tow hitch. Tires are Kumho Road Venture All Terrain in excellent condition Truck obviously includes 1st generation Vintage 4Runner Removable Top, Chrome wheels, 4 wheel drive. Runs great, Perfect first car, Title in hand. Epic 4+4 convertible. I used this truck to run around White Sands Missile Range and it's been flawless!

I love this truck! Hate to sell but I'm moving back east to Washington, DC. I'll try and upload more interior pics tonight.

I've seen this truck around town. Looks like a good ride for someone who really likes the first gen's and wants to cruise around the desert.
 
Well.....what a weekend.

Went camping. Left the 4runner parked at a friends.....came back to the below image.

Unfortunately, truck is no longer for sale :sobbing:

Apparently some idiot ran into it in the middle of the night Friday. According to the neighbors a drunk woman was at the wheel who fled the scene before the police arrived and forced her sober son to take the fall. Of course he didn't have insurance....Some people....

I'm working with my insurance to get it sorted but I'm thinking it's likely totaled.

Wow, so her son is gonna take the hit for the wreck. Dunno how the state law is down there, but in TN he'd be on the hook for paying the damages and could get his license suspended till it gets paid back to your insurance company. That's one hell of a mom.
 
It's sad this happened. But I'm not shocked it was a drunk person. Las cruces has the worst drivers out of every place I've been, including Afghanistan. I bet the lady that hit the runner is also one of the people that run red lights all the time
 
[MENTION=100310]Brique[/MENTION] Yea her son was listed as the driver on the police report. My insurance company will pursue him individually as I have uninsured motorist coverage.
 
UPDATE:
Not sure if anyone cares but the 4Runner was indeed totaled. Actual Cash Value was ~$3800 in case anyone is interested ($5000+ in damages :wow2:) . Could serve as a baseline for future 1st gen value. I'm going to meet the adjuster to close everything out this afternoon.
 
Can you buy back from the insurance company and part it out? I'd do that since looks like it still has a lot of useable/clean parts.
