Love the rack and really considering it, but the fairing with its 90 degree corners looks cheap. Maybe just a yakima fairing would fix all the issues. Mounts would work I'm sure.

The fairing is made from ABS plastic so you can just cut to your hearts desire. Just buy some more off eBay when/if you screw up.

I am already thinking of redoing mine with thicker ABS material since I now have experience in fabricating the brackets out of aluminum flat bar and can get any angle I want.

Silicone is not necessary due to the gooey factory loctite Toyota uses, BUT taking a 'safer than sorry' approach is never wrong.

I think you're the favorite around here, not us! Sounds like you've got tons of interest from lots of individuals right now. Just curious what an approximate wait time might currently look like for a rack? I'm not in a rush at all, but I definitely want to get a hold of one eventually if I can!

I have respect for you now...it is very time consuming to work with aluminum. Even spoke to Demello about how they handle their aluminum and basically heat it up to 180 degrees and let it cool, then you can bend all you want...no more brittle aluminum. BTW - use a torch to heat it up - way faster.

If you get the 3/16 ABS I would love to try it. I can even get it perfect with the brackets and then make you a set that you can use as the master. I used thicker flat bar as well but it is not needed - just all I could get at the time.

I'm thinking a 40" single row combo (spot/flood) bar for the front. Haven't put much thought for anything on the sides or rear yet.

Yeah I'm kind of torn between the single LED bar or breaking up the space with multiple lights. Wiring would be more complicated but I kind of like the look better... I've been looking at what other folks have on their gobis while I anxiously await my rack to get fabbed haha

any thoughts on a lighting set up?

I customized so I only have about 38" to use...otherwise a 40" would work fine - single or double row.

Adding multiple lights is easy and no additional wiring runs unless you want them all individually switched.

Light will be really easy to mount and pictures will look like any other rack out there based on the flavor of lights chosen. I will have to mount mine a little different as I am trying to fit a 40" within 38" of space...lol

...remember that you will need to drill holes to run wire...unless you will zip tie to the outside

I agree. I've been looking at irregular bolts to try and use. Or some way to 'lock' it in place. Maybe even using some type of quick disconnects (mounting and wiring) so that I will only have it on when I know I am going to use it.

After looking through the LEDs, I am really liking the H Series from Black Box. Did you find out if they are coming out with a 40"?

Yeah, I reached out to them. They said they would have to special order the 40" bar and it would probably take a couple of weeks. And he quoted me $399 to my door. What I really like, I think it's neat, is the wireless remote. And how you can turn on the flood lights separate from the spot lights. Or both on at the same time.

I'm assuming these are chinese bars (they don't mention it specifically on their site) but appears that they have tested these out pretty rigorously.

Out of curiosity, can the 3Ws be amber LEDs?

No, we cannot change the color of the LED's, but we will have lens covers you can use that slide and lock in. The H Series come with black lens covers already in the price, so you will be able to see for yourself the style of lens covers. You can use a clear cover in the middle, and amber on the ends. These should be available for in by March.

Do you off road so much at night to need a 40" bar? I would think like 4 Rigid D2's would be plenty for half the cost.
