Rather than torture myself with Craigslist I thought I would post here first. Apologies for the long post but trying to provide detail.
First a disclosure:
If you aren’t comfortable performing moderate to heavy maintenance and wrenching on a vehicle then this is probably not the truck for you. Various buzzes, whirs, squeaks, hamster mating sounds, etc…..
Trucks are located in Upstate NY near the PA border. I would not travel too far a distance to check these out.
Two (2) 2001 4Runners for $4,000. Interesting trades also considered. Big frame Harleys, utility trailers that can tow a Harley, trailerable sailboat, old electric guitars and amps, etc……
(1) 2001 4runner SR5 Appx. 235k miles - assumed cracked flex plate - driving
Millenial silver / Oak Leather interior - Drivers seat cracked in typical spot. All other seats good
Currently my daily driver. Registered and inspected.
Some typical rust but not bad for being in upstate NY. The gas Tank skid plate is the worst of it and I have one in reasonable shape to replace it. Rear hatch has a bad spot. Pictured.
Couple of very small fisheye dings in windshield. I haven’t bothered to fix. Have another windshield as well. See below.
Instrument cluster speedo numbers have bubbled in places. Have replacement instrument cluster.
Turn signals require a special tap to work. Have replacement in other truck.
Driver side doors were banged in and I had them replaced at body shop along with repaint of that side. Lost a battle with a concrete light pole stanchion in a parking lot.
Front rotor dust shields are rotted but I am not going to replace. rotors wobble. I just drive it.
Multi-mode 4WD Auto transmission. All modes work. No locker.
Have had various CEL lights and codes at different points. Currently I believe it needs the Gas Tank gasket as when stopped after driving I can smell by driver rear quarter. I did install a Toyota OEM File Filler neck but I believe there is an additional EVAP leak.
Replace at appx. 190k when I purchased.
Timing Belt
Water Pump
All pulleys on front of engine. Some were Toyota OEM.
Previous owner stated that he had leaking rear axle seals and he had them and all rear brake drums and shoes replaced. I cannot verify but they are not leaking now.
K&N Cold Air intake. Original induction system retained, bagged and stored.
Other items within past two years.
Front Brake rotors and Pads. ( Toyota OEM ) Getting to the point they need attention

Plugs ( Denso spec )
Plug Wires and boots all the way around

Flex Plate - yes, it’s cracked again
Cooper AT/3 265R16
Barnes 4WD diff cover welded on rear axle housing ( Rear diff currently whines - have a used replacement not yet in truck). I have driven this way for over two years but I would recommend replacement at some point.

Lower Ball joints ( Toyota OEM )
Fuel filler neck and cap. Also all mounting parts. ( Toyota OEM )
Front sway bar links ( Non Toyota )

Denso O2 Sensor - Downstream
I also have the Felpro Valve cover gaskets but have not gotten around to installing.
Dash lights are LED now. Clock backlight works once very 3 months for about 10 minutes.
But wait there’s more ! If you buy one today I’ll throw in another absolutely free ! Just pay separate shipping and handling.
(2) is a 2001 SR5 parts truck appx. 228K
Thundercloud with Grey cloth interior. Interior is dirty but dash , etc is in great shape.

sunroof Works as designed.
This has rotted rocker panels and other areas of significant rust underneath.
All Doors and rear hatch are rust free. Sport hood in poor shape in regards to paint.
All glass good
Starts , runs, revs, idles perfectly. Timing belt status unknown. Oil is clean and transmission fluid is as well. Was only driven on to the flatbed and then down to the barn. 4wd multi mode engaged. It has not been driven on the street at speed by myself.
I currently have the rear 3rd pulled intending to put in daily driver
Prior owner indicated the radiator has been replaced. exact date unknown but there are no known leaks from coolant, etc….
Alternator was frozen up and alternator belt missing. However it will start right up with a battery pack. Battery in truck is no good although I did charge it once to start the truck and drive it on to the tow vehicle.
I purchased this to have a spare engine/transmission for the long term. Was also going to pull the sport hood and repaint and put on DD along with the rear hatch.
This is a “parts truck” and not a candidate to put on the road. Or invest too much time and effort in.
The parts truck will need to be towed on a flatbed.
If interested PM me and I’lll get back to you. I do travel for work so not always the most responsive person.
It’s hard to price these trucks so if $4,000 for both trucks seems unreasonable let me know. But that seems to be a fair price. I’m negotiable to a point else I’ll just drive it through next winter. Interesting trades also considered.
