FSC strut review

Hello all, long time listener, first time caller. I have a 98 limited with 200,000 miles. I have slowly be doing Maintenance on since i bought it 50,000 mile ago. Yesterday i replaced the front struts with FSC brand strut assemblies from amazon. I researched this forum and many others and couldnt find any one who had installed this brand. Now i know why, The ride is harder than my grandpa watching golden girls. Before installation I felt good about my purchase , I paid under 100 dollars for two struts with springs. what a deal I thought after reading customers reviews. I noticed the springs very thicker than than the oem springs. The ride is horrible, terribly rough and rigid. my 4runner know rides like a botched lowering job where they cut the coils down.
If you need new struts for stock ride height I would not recommend FSC.

Thanks for the review. I saw them on amazon and really liked the price but I will avoid FSC. Thanks for taking it for the team.
I had KYB's, decent price, decent ride.

I can't speak for the 4R, but for my Corolla, the FSC struts worked really well on the rear. Others I have recommended it to have tried them and liked it as well.

I wonder what makes them not work as well for the 4R.

Good question Jeff, I would say the thicker coil is responsible for the firm ride.

Have you tried calling them to see if they have a strut that will fit, but with a thinner coil. Amazon will only post known products to fit the vehicle, but FCS may have other options. Maybe they will exchange them for you, so it's not a total loss.

Yes they are the correct part, and only the strut from fcs for my 4runner. Its just like anything else from china, you're rolling dice when you try to save money. I'm keep running them and write an update if they become more forgiving.

Interesting, I just put a pair on my 97 and love them. The ride is stiffer but that is to be expected as the original ones were dead. Give them a few days and they will settle and get a bit softer. I also installed new sway bar links in the front, KYB Gas-A-just shocks on the back, had the tires balanced and had an alignment. Truck drives like new.

I bought the same ones from Amazon. Mine rides just fine, so much better than the worn out originals that were on my 1997

Coils don't get softer over time, the ride height just changes. The thicker the coil the stiffer, the fewer coils the stiffer they are.

Fsc struts

Just put fsc struts on my 99 4runner 4x4 v6 and it rides great, great value i would highly recommend these struts great price i was skeptical about buying but know im glad i purchased not to many reviews on these struts so i will give you mine and im pretty anol .on a scale 1to 10 ,ten being best ill give them a 10 now if i get 50 k out of them ill be happy like i said i just put them on and its an awesome ride !
