FSM Manuals and Wiring Diagrams On the Way!

I love these books! I can read these manuals like other folks read novels. I like having these in hand much better that looking at manuals online. Especially when looking at wiring diagrams or vacuum line schematics. My runner has 295k miles on it. I'm thinking about buying a JDM engine for it. I think I will really need these books for that project.

I am considering getting the A340 manual as well. I am hoping that it will give me the confidence to tackle rebuilding one. Of course if I find a nice clean low mileage used transmission from outside of the rust belt, I may not need to. But it would be fun to try. My 300k mile transmission might be just the one to tackle after it gets replaced.

The FSM are great to have I have the 2001 in book form. 1997 for my manual transmission in book form

I have not yet seen a collision manual. I am already intrigued with the small bit of information on frame dimensions that they have in the regular FSM. I will have to look around and see if I can find myself such a manual.

I am sure there are a few in paper form out there somewhere.

For example:

I like it because the entire generation has one. This tells us that all the body panels are the same. So the frame is the same except naturally the 2wd vs 4wd differences. Very common in all Toyota vehicles to be this way.

Features and systems change from 1996 to 2002 but mostly the engines, chassis, frames, transmissions stay the same.

Subsystems, wiring, sensors transfer cases [if fwd] will change.

I look at it as 1996 to 1998 very similar. 1999 to 2002 very similar with 2001, 2002 being very close. 1999 was a transition year.

I agree that printed FSMs are required. Trying to read a laptop outdoors, even under a shade structure, is torture.
I have always obtained one for any vehicle I buy.
For my '97, I have the single [giant] book for engine/chassis/body, electrical wiring book, and collision repair, all gotten through Amazon (independent seller) when I acquired my 4runner in 2013.

Valid point. You can buy reprints from the dealer but only so far back and your better off to find them used if at all possible because of the cost.. They are very expensive new..:[

Yes, it’s digital, but it can be organized by page and printed out.

The one that’s online is only for a 01-02.
