I am offering up my 1994 Land Cruiser to trade for the right 2nd or 3rd gen 4Runner. It has slightly less than 225k on it, about 5k on a new head gasket, done by yours truly, an ASE Master Auto Technician. The emissions components have been removed but I still have them if you need them in your state, and I could re-install them for you. The Land Cruiser is de-flared and Monstalined black, with new TRD Taco wheels and the interior is showing its age, but usable and not nasty. I have all 3 rows of seats, and I made a removable sleeping/ doggy platform for the back. All the routine maintenance stuff is good to go, and it also has had the following minor upgrades: extended breathers on axles, new radiator and fan shroud, onboard air system/ plumbing installed (compressor not yet mounted), JVC single DIN with 4 pioneer speakers, Yakima gutter mount bars, upgraded headlight bulbs, clear corners and tails, LED interior lighting (some dash lights have burnt out already & need replaced), new OEM brushes in alternator, new starter solenoid contacts, new Magnaflow Y-pipe & cat, Blue sea fuse box, custom headlight harness, Toyota electric fan, 3rd gen 4Runner shifter, large PS cooler, new F&R brakes, extended rubber brake lines and some 285s that will need replaced soon. The truck IS LOCKED, with original front & rear electric lockers that work great. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this baby across country, in a blizzard, it's reliable. We did drive to the beach several times this summer, performed flawlessly.
What I'm looking for is a clean, nice 2nd or 3rd Gen 4Runner that my pregnant wife can daily drive without the fuel costs of a FZJ80 and maybe in a slightly safer fashion (3rd gen would have airbags, maybe ABS). If you have a clean, streetable second gen I would consider that with maybe a little cash to boot. I'm a sucker for 90's Toyotas, original pin striping, 5 speeds. I know these trucks (mine) aren't made of gold, but I would expect somebody has a nice 3rd gen they'd be willing to trade even up. We're going to be moving towards Philly next year and I don't want to constantly worry about my old truck being broken into/ stolen and not getting enough from insurance, (blue book is lower than actual used market value and extra coverage is prohibitively expensive). I'm valuing my truck at $5,000. Everyone says this but I easily have that much into the truck, and I'll probably cry when you drive it away, but frankly speaking I gotta take care of baby momma and my progeny.
