Fuel additives

Just wondering what you guys use, or would use as a fuel system additive for our rigs. Not really sure if it matters what size the engine is, but i have a v6.

I have heard of Redline products, but wanted to get some feedback b/f i get some.

So, which one would you guys use.

I thought Toyotas engine works fine without any additives.
 
Yea, that was what i was saying, but who knows what kind of isht is in gas these days. So, if a bottle of "stuff" can clean out the injectors and make it run a little smoother, what the hell
 
Chevron has a fuel additive that I use twice a year. When I was in CA, I used Chevron gas because it was mixed with the additive and my M3 ran well with it.
 
That is the stuff with techron, right? Oh, and what was the brand of tow straps that you use. I had asked you that in the other thread that i started, but i don't think you noticed
 
Yep, Techron. And no octane booster.

I have no idea what brand tow straps they are but look for something at least 15,000lb or more. 20' length is good. I got 2 off ebay with some shackles for pretty cheap and the third strap I bought from a local autoparts store.
 
i use Ams oil P.I. (performance improver) i put 1 oz. in every other tank and it works awsome idles lower better gas milage. (extra-20-30 miles to a tank) highly suggested

Obviously the diff b/w the 6 and 16 oz is size, but is the 6oz more concentrated than the 16 oz. What is the diff

Which one do you use
 
BG's 44K;used the stuff for 8 years in my Eclipse and when the injectors were pulled and banch tested they still flowed over 90% capacity with 100k+ miles on 'em.
The stuff does cost about $20 a can but it's worth it.
I use it in my truck once a year just like I did the Mitsu so I ecpect good things from it.
 
My last 2 cars (both toyotas) were service at Toyota Dealer and they add BG additive every 15K miles. Only have 4K on my 4runnner so not sure if toyota dealer will add additives to it as well when time comes.

With almost every vehicle I have owned during the past fifteen years, I got into the habit of adding a small bottle of STP fuel injector cleaner (the black one with red letters) to the fuel tank. Typically, I have done it after every oil change -- usually every 3000 miles or so.

I have not ever experienced any problems related to dirty injectors and the cars have all performed properly during the time that I have owned them.

I am familiar with BG Products and have heard nothing but good things about them......although they tend to be a bit pricey because of the limited number people/dealers who sell the stuff. Aside from injector cleaner, they also offer treatments for your transmission fluid & your coolant.

Marvel Mystery oil used to be good stuff "back in the day" -- although I don't know if it is still around. Rislone Oil Treatment worked well on some cars I used to have, including an old Caddy.....but I am not sure about that one either. It used to come in a one-quart bottle with black lettering.

BG products good....Seafoam

I know that te BG products do work. Service departments use them. It makes a difference in a higher mileage vehicle (30K +) . But I think it's difficult to get BG if you are not a distributor or a car repair shop with an account. They don't do retail.

I have recently put a couple cans of Seafoam in the gas. The truck definitely felt peppier during this time, and the idle seems better, but there was really nothing wrong in the first place. That's why I didn't Seafoam directly into the manifold.

I just wanted to be sure that I ran a good fuel system cleaner once in a while to disolve carbon buildup. I only drive 16 minutes to work each day, it may not be enough to get the engine hot enough to prevent buildup.
 
Yea i am the same way, but i haven't used it in a while. The reason i am asking is b/c i am going to boston this weekend, andi am going to do some real eyeballing of the miles. first long trip.

I wanted to put something in and let it really work into the engine for the long haul.

I never add anything to my gas tank or my engine oil. The oil companies already have injector cleaning additives in the gasoline and detergents in their oil. Adding aftermarket products probably do not harm anything, but I am skeptical if 6 to 8 ounces of an elixir in 23 gallons of gas can they actually do any good.

That is why i usually put 1 and a half bottles of the "elixir" to a full tank.. They say that it can treat up to 20, but our tank can hold 23. Is that not a smart idea?
