Your pump and injectors should be fine. Yes that is high RPM but nothing to worry about, when was the last time you did plugs?

relatively easy to tackle (the most difficult part was working lying down).

definitely put new life into my truck, bought the truck at 180k mi and did this mod at 200k and it may have been the original filter. It made a huge difference .

change the filter then. I did mine as soon as I got the truck and noticed more throttle response.

Think about the hundreds of gallons of gas that have gone through that little filter nothing is designed forever.

filters are cheap and easy also, it will only take you 15 min.

I think I did the filter 2 years ago about 30k miles and run out of gas probably 2 times on long road trips due to crappy fuel gauge.

I did the same thing, I didn't have any trouble but I was very very careful not to round off the nut. You oughta be fine as long as you're careful.

Just replaced my fuel filter. My removal/installation went pretty smooth, and was really easy. I hit the fittings with PB Blaster, and let that soak in while I de-pressurized the fuel system. Pulled the fuse for the ECU, and cranked the motor for a few seconds. Grabbed a 19mm standard wrench (to fit on the filter) and a 14mm wrench (to go on the fitting). Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the filter from the clamp thingy. With a little bit of effort, the fittings broke free from the filter easier than I expected. The typical amount of gas leaked out of the old filter. It was brown and nasty looking, and I was glad I was replacing the filter. Put on the new filter, got the fittings nice and tight against the filter, and had no leaks at startup. Haven't driven it yet, but hopefully it delivers much cleaner fuel to the motor instead of the brown crap.

I spent last year out in Utah. I noticed rust around the hitch so I got under the truck and checked the undercarriage. Rust was all over from the salted Utah roads. I neutralized it with Etch and Prep from Home Depot. I saw the fuel filter was pretty rusty too. I had changed the filter only once before about 50k miles ago. I ordered an OEM filter and changed it. I just used small crescent wrenches and had no problem. It greatly improved my acceleration. I'm going to stick with changing the fuel filter every 50k miles.

i change mine about every 30k too. cheap, easy and i need all the fuel i can get flowing to the thirsty supercharger...

I have replaced mine at least twice in the past 100k miles. I have another oem on order from amazon for $40 with tax. I hope this is the last time ever have to replace it. As long as i can get another 50k miles out of the truck, i should be good.
