First off, the truck: 2001 sr5, everthing but leather and 4x4 in Thundercloud, ~82,000 trouble free miles...
The fuel gauge started acting up: it would say it was empty when I knew there was at least a half tank, and after a few miles it would report as normal. I called my local dealer ( which would be Stone Mountain Toyota here in Atlanta, GA ), and they quoted me $600!!!!!!! They also said that I would have to foot the bill since it's not a recall. I was then told it was only ~$200 in parts, but you have to drop the tank and change a computer board behind the dash as well as reprogram the ECU.
A few questions: Is what they said correct, and has anyone gotten Toyota to foot the bill on this?
Thanks!
