Fuel injector #1 replacement

I am having to replace my fuel injector on cylinder #1 on my 1997 4runner. What all should I replace when I am doing the injector? Is there any gaskets or o-rings that I should replace before putting it all back together? I have never done a injector replacement before. Any and all info will help. Thanks in advance for the help.

You should do the valve cover gaskets while you're in there. Also, I'd pull all 6 injectors and send them to Witchhunter. It's about $21/injector and money well spent.

The little plastic shields around the injector wire harness will break when you start pulling things. No biggie, just buy some heat insulating tape to re-wrap the harness.

If it's been a while since you've done plugs and wires, this would be a good time to do them too. And since the manifold had to come off, clean the manifold and throttle body thoroughly while it's apart. And last but not least, snug up your throttle, cruise control and kick down cables when you put it back together.

I have already replaced all plugs wires and coils. I thought may have been the problem but it was doing the same thing. Thanks for the info pitbullrescuer.

What are the symptoms? Any codes? How do you know it's specifically the #1 injector?

Do replace the o ring and some vehicles will have an insulator at the head too make sure its got a good seal. If running boost like on a supercharger you can get a huge boost leak here. Not to much of an issue on an n/a car.

Also like stated how you know what one has failed. You can get a cheap mechanics stethoscope for real cheap. You can actually listen to see if the injector is failed. Just may save you lots of time from pulling injectors for no reason.

It has code for misfire on number 1. It has no power and is real jerkey when driving. I went through and listened to all the injectors and it was the only one that was not making a tic noise.
