Fuel Issues

My '87 T4R with 324,000 miles went down yesterday, very depressing. I believe it is the fuel filter and hoping not the fuel pump. I bought a new filter and will replace it this evening. I was wondering if anyone might have a more descriptive (how to) excerpt from an actual service manual. I have a Haynes manual, it is very vague in where and how to replace the fuel filter. Also would like to know of any special circumstances during replacement, i.e. removal of other parts. Any information would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks Mike for the info. I'm not too mechanically incline, but would like to learn how to work on my T4R to save a dime or two.

Congrats also on your mileage.

heads up

I don't know if the 87 4runners have fuel injection, but take of the gas cap before you disconect any lines. I don't know how many times my buddies have replaced a fuel filter and gotten a gas shower from the built up pressure.
