Fuel line magnets?

Reasons why we should not put any more effort in this thread:

This person has very few posts, and is most likely connected one way or another to this product. He admits that his figures came from the mileage computer that is known to be notoriously inaccurate. Never showed any interest in correctly figuring out mpg which was explained to him more then one time. His claims of mileage improvement 3mpg is ridiculous. Studies done proved this to be a scam. Nothing more on this topic really needs to be said. The simple truth is this product actually lowers your mpg and does not deliver as promised.
One day I hope to see a product that really will work. Unfortunately it will most likely be very expensive and complicated. Chances are this product will be built directly into the engine from the factory. Not purchased for $10 at a Walmart. Companies like this survive off the good will and desperation of others, I am pleased to see them getting sued.

I'm putting one of these babies in the back of the 4Runner. I figure I'll get something like 10,000 miles to the gallon once those pesky clusters of fuel molecules get broken up. Heck, it's so strong, it may even create gasoline (according to the on-board computer)!

BTW, I remember my dad putting some fuel mileage gee-gaw that he ordered from some do-it-yourself magazine in the fuel line of the 66 Dodge Polara. It didn't work then, either. Guess we haven't learned a thing in 40 some years.

I remember filling my 4Runner's tank with premium - just for an experiment, I guess - to see if my mileage would improve over using regular gasoline.

I went on a long trip, with about 90% highway driving at 70 to 75 mph most of the way. Well, Shazaam! My miles per gallon jumped from about 17.1 to 20.8. Was it the premium fuel? Probably not. It was the change in driving style and conditions. A 4Runner will do much better at a steady highway velocity than it will in city traffic; since there is less acceleration and change in vehicle speed.

By the way, I don't rely on the trip computer and do the old-school "miles driven divided by gallons used" method to determine my true miles per gallon. (This is done with a full tank and re-filling it to the same level at the end of the trip.)

Not trying to throw a wet blanket on the picnic here, but determining the effectiveness of a device like the "Tornado" is going to require the use of different vehicles with different drivers under varying conditions. The best study would be one with "double blind" experiments - where some cars have the devices installed, while others would not - and none of the drivers would know if their car/truck had one.

Since you are a pilot, I know you are intelligent enough to understand the guarded skepticism of those who frequent this forum. We're not trying to be mean or question your integrity, but many of us have heard just about every type of claim there is regarding horsepower tricks, thermodynamic aids, geothermal toilets, high-temperature blinker fluid, diesel carburetors and snake oil.

The accuracy of the MPG calculator. : Camera phone picture sucks, should've used my digital camera. Next time...

Edit: That very tank gave the best mileage of 22.26 mpg.

You can get similar results when going at a high speed down a steep hill. Hit the RESET button on your trip computer when coasting or with a low level of drag on the engine, and it will get as high as 45 mpg - at least for a short moment in time.

Then reality sets in when you mash the gas pedal to climb another hill.

I'll respond in a month with exact mpg per tank of gas for those of you who keep an opened mind. I'm not interested in anyone else's comments at this time. I personnally was better off not discussing this with most of you. Thank you.
