Fuel pump harness question

Real quick, I have another thread going but need one separate answer. Does the fuel pump on a 97 3.4 receive power when the ignition is on or does it have to be cranking. Thought my pump went out dropped the tank but I'm not getting power to the pump with ignition on only power to the sender unit. Don't have a second person around to crank the engine while I test the wire.

Thanks guys!

Fuel pump only energizes if ECU receives crank signal from the starter or the crank position sensor says engine is turning on its own.

This may help:
