fuel pump noise

I just had a oem pump die last night after 408k (lets hear any other manufacturer say that!) anyway got new one in fired her up and now i can hear pump whine very clearly, the old one never made a sound. the other toyotas i have owned never whined either is this normal? (for a aftermarket pump anyway) thanks

Some NooB 408K miles, holy sh!té! Are all your belts holding correct tension? Never heard of a "whining" noise from the fuel pump, didnt know they could even make that noise.

I have a walbro pump and it whines when the fuel level is low. Kinda like a 90s GM truck.

I also have an upgraded pump. Has a constant whine, audible inside the cabin at less than half a tank.

return it and get another. It should be under warranty.

:iagree: It's natural for high flow race fuel pumps to whine but not a stock replacement pump. I did mine about 6mo ago and the new one that I installed is very quiet, almost couldn't hear when I was testing the new wiring. Advance Auto Parts: Electric Fuel Pump by Airtex - Part E8213
