Fuel Tank Straps: Who Has Replaced Them?

Hey all,

Has anyone replaced a fuel tank strap? I found mine rusted and broken this weekend and would like to replace it. Bonus question since I am too tired to google that. Where can I find the straps to replace them?

Or ratchet strap! My brother's temporary replacement that I will need to get a pic of. Let me ask what he plans on doing for a permanent fix. Interestingly his rusted through a couple days ago too.

I had to replace mine about a year ago, along with the protection shield. Found all three parts on ebay. Until I managed to find all the parts, I made temp straps from some 'S' hooks, chain, and two turn-buckles.

Not sure what year your 4Runner is or if all year models 4th Gens use the same straps but here's a link for the straps on my 2004, $53 for the front strap and $61 for the rear strap.

If you scroll down slightly and click on the diagram it will expand and show a list of the parts and you will see both straps listed.

You may also find aftermarket straps that may or may not work but they seem to be priced similarly.
