I just got my rubber feet in for the front of mine, I am having a hell of time trying to keep the hex head bolt from spinning inside of the rubber foot while tightening down the nylon lock nut on top. It's pretty secure but I can still ever so slightly move the foot around within the rack bracket. I will see if there is any movement once I have the rack mounted on the roof with the middle and rear mounts fully tightened. Any pointers on how to keep the bolt from spinning inside of the foot would be greatly appreciated (I've already tried holding it tightly with vice grips).
For those of you who have gone this route, which height/size spacers did you use for the center and rear mounts? I only have (6) of the shorter .75" spacers and (4) of the taller 1" spacers so it isn't possible to use one size for all of the mounts. I am thinking that I should go with the taller ones in the rear and the shorter ones in the middle and possibly stack a washer underneath the middle ones to bring them close to the same height as the taller ones in the rear. I plan to use rubber washers under all of the spacers between them and the roof of the 4Runner, I've also heat-shrink wrapped the spacers to help with absorption and to keep them black without having to paint or powder coat them.
I have no plans of mounting a RTT on this vehicle so I didn't see the need to drill, it'll hold Maxtrax and a 4-gallon Fuel Rotopax on most trips and possibly an Alu-box or two occasionally.
