Full Time vs. Part Time

Hello...new here...just a question to put out there:

I'm buying a 4Runner in a month...my debate is whether to get the V6 or V8...my delema isn't the engine but rather the drivetrain with the engines...simply put, what are some of the opinions regarding the V8 with Full Time 4WD or V6 with the part time...it just seems to me that there would be much more wear and tear on a full time system...help, anyone??...

I often drive 1000 kilometers to jobs at drilling rigs. I need 4 wheel drive, but only for the last 10 kilometers, or so. I bought the V6 so I didn't have to turn every drive train part all the time. A bonus for 2WD over 4WD, is better gas mileage.

The best vehicle I've had for rig work was my 98. Better gas mileage, more ground clearance, rear locker, separate rear seat heater, manual transfer case, hand operated parking brake, and better lights when fitted with 80/100 H4 bulbs.

My 03 handles better, rides better, has more power, a larger gas tank (but needs it), is larger and more comfortable inside, and I can run 4 wheel drive anywhere, all day, if I want to.

When someone figures out how to do a one or two inch front lift with XREAS, I'll be all over it. I'm running 31's on Tundra 16" wheels for rig work. The stock 17's are for pleasure driving.

I still haven't determined if it's as good as my 98 in real bog. So far it's okay, other than the scraping. Drives me crazy. The first time I get stuck, or close to it, I'll know.
