Fully Finished Projector Headlights For Sale on Ebay

Found these on ebay and thought I should share as this is the first time I have ever seen someone selling fully finished projector headlights for 3rd gens. Definitely more expensive than building your own, but they look like a good option for someone who just wants to pay and be done. I don't know anything about the seller, but he seems to be getting good reviews. He's selling them in chrome and black, with the black set includind matching side markers. They look pretty nice.

I'll be purchasing a 3rd gen 4Runner soon after transferring from my previous car and I'll be very happy to be back to using Halogen headlights. Cheap bulbs and no problems with them. I'll add a lightbar to the windshield too if I really need a lot of light going down trails!

Don't be so sure about that, 3rd gens are natorious for having horrible light output. But upgrading to '99 plus housings help a bit

What are people charging to do retrofit's these days? Labor wise, 200?

If he's not using OEM Headlights they're not worth a dime. I had to return my "knock off" for my drivers side from Amazon last year. Ended up buying OEM.

EDIT: I'm only speaking from experience about the housing only, not the bulbs. I have PIAA Extreme White Bulbs and they're OK, but leave a lot to be desired. After installing my Rigid Industries Hyper Spots I'm convinced Halogens are like candles in comparison.

Some of the aftermarket housings have very low quality reflecting properties and some even have plastic lenses that intervene with the light output. Especially when used with an HID. I learned that the hard way buying the black "JDM" style housings.

With projectors it doesn't matter b/c your not using the reflecting properties in the headlight itself. The only thing I can suggest is make sure you're getting glass lenses if you buy aftermarket headlights.



However, I do encourage the use of OEM. Used OEM headlights can be found a dime a dozen and for a good price. It may take some time finding ones without broken tabs on the mounting brackets but they're out there. Interior dirtiness of a used OEM headlight is pretty much a moot point since you would be cracking it open and modifying it for your projectors.


Regardless, I wouldn't trust these retrofitted headlights as far as I could throw them. No parts description, or any description at all for that matter. It's unsure if they're offering the exact headlights pictured or if they're offering services for retrofitted headlights.

Talked to a couple of people doing the retros and I have heard anywhere from $600-$1200 depending on the parts used and who is doing them... at that rate I will pass... Too rich for my blood, that can buy a lot of good parts.

That is insane, lol. I paid $500 for my first set, including parts from retrofitsource to do it. All I did was mail off my housings. Like anything, time increases supply and prices fall.

I was just looking at it from the aspect of buying the parts, converting them, finishing them and having a set(s) on hand. In order to make enough money to justify his time/investment, it's gotta be SUPER cheap components/housings.

Is there a way to tell if it has the rear e-locker from the VIN number? There are only 2 interior pictures, and the steering wheel is covering where the rear e-locker button would be if it was there. Hope for the best I guess? I'm fine without it as I won't be offroading that much and I'll have a center locking differential? Correct?

I can't speak from experience with the older trucks, but my 02s headlights were in fine shape and the light output still sucked. Couldn't be happier with my retrofits, and they look mucho more cooler.

And yeah, it'll have a locking center diff.

Well the difference being, the older lense would cloud up and in time kinda yellow, your 2000 should be fine if still OEM lights, they have a glass lense and those remain clearer over time. As far as bulbs, you can put in anything to your liking. Without going to far off topic sorry OP. E-locker is cool to have but don't pass up a good conditions 4Runner because it doesn't have one, they are easy enough to find aftermarket if you really want one.

I can get retrofits for people starting at $625. This is using TYC housings and all Retrofit Source parts. Would be an H1 minni setup with your choice of bulb. That price also includes the full harness (plug and play for install), PayPal fees, and shipping fees. Obviously if you wanted them painted and have halos added it would be more. Customers have the option to get them color matched to their 4runner or just painted a solid color. Either way the paint has clear coat put over it. All halo components are from LED Concepts and switchback halos start at $90.

EDIT: Different shrouds are also available. Normally run as about a $35 upgrade

Talking to you guys just makes me more and more excited to see if I can snag this thing if the price is right then ship it to me (I live in Tennessee, local classifieds make this 4Runner impossible to find).

I can't make a thread for some reason but I have a couple more questions. As soon as I get the 4Runner I'm going go through with my regular maintenance. My next question is in regards to lifting the vehicle. I don't want to get huge tires because I'm worried about gas mileage, I'd rather just go up a little bit in size and grab all-terrain tires for it that are passenger rated/light-weight so it won't hurt my mileage too much. If for mostly looks I want to go ahead with a 1" lift, would spacers be just fine in my scenario? RoughCountry offers a 3" inch for around $250 with everything included but I'd be worried the car would look funny with small tires and a lift that large (I couldn't find any pictures, can anybody give me a photo?). Lastly, the car right now needs a new front bumper since it looks like the previous owner hit something and it would bother me. My choices would be to grab a new painted bumper, then get this to put over it. Are my plans "good" for my first 4Runner?

I've got a 2000 and a 1998 sitting at my house right now. I've driven both, are both and terribly dim. Better if you also have fog lights though. There's really not much difference.

If you want a cheaper increase, buy a higher wattage bulb. I think stock they are 55w? I put Phillips Xtreme or NightHawk or something like that in that increased the wattage and helped a bit for like $25. Then I added a light bar so I'm good.

No No No that was everything parts and labor included. That was new housings, retro parts and labor. Sorry for the confusion.
