Fumoto Valve with Budbuilt Skids???

Has anyone installed a Fumoto Valve with Budbuilt Skids?

I am getting kind of tired of having a lot of oil spill all inside the skid plates and then it leaking out over the subsequent days after an oil change.

The Fumoto valve with the nipple to attach a hose looks like a possible solution for routing the used oil directly to the catch pan.

However, between having not seen the valve in person to know how big it is, and having not looked at the size of the drain hole in the Budbuilt plate recently, I don't know if it would 1) be easy to get the hose attached, 2) be easy to reach the valve release, or 3) to fit the safety clamp thing which would take needle nose pliers I reckon.

Ya ,I have one and it works great. Just run a hose off it when draining the oil straight into the container. No mess at all.

Do you guys use the security clip?

Warning: For users under extreme conditions: If you are using the Engine Oil Drain Valve on off-road vehicles such as farm tractors and logging equipment under extreme environment (i.e. corn fields, brush areas), it is recommended that a security clip as shown below be used for extra safety and security. The security clip will firmly keep the lever in the locked position at all times.

I don't even use a tube or the lock ring. It is super tight. With the BB skid, there is no way it accidentally opens. Squirts right through the hole in the skid, not a single drop gets anywhere. Awesome product.
 
No, I use the security Budbuilt skid plates option .lol.

It sits a couple of inches above the drain hole in the skids. The valve is spring loaded and you have to physically push it up and over to release the oil.

From their website:
Durability: The valve is a simple but effective locking system. The stainless steel spring prevents accidental opening. It requires two distinct actions to open it and its heavy-duty construction will withstand any engine vibration.

I made a bit of a mess last weekend with my Shrock skids. Stoked!!
 
I bought them for both my runner and my beater, takes WAY too long to drain....IMO, I took them both off, dont use em any more, nothing a lil brake klen and a rag cant clean up.
 
Bty: I Was thinking the other day, any slid plate install should automatically come w this drain valve. It is great. It prevents all the oil change mess i used to get on the budbuilt skids. Have not had any issue with debris or vandals flipping the valve open. I Just ran by this old thread and am adding the long term time-tested endorsement.

Same long term endorsement here with Shrockworks skids. The shop that works on my truck likes it, but hates that the draining takes a little longer.

Reviving a dead post here....I’m interested in hearing what everyone’s long-term experience with the Fumoto valve has been like. And also, what the hell is the difference between a short nipple and a long nipple, besides the obvious? Are there benefits to one over the other? I’m running a stock skid plate but plan to upgrade in the future.
 
I got the long one which makes it easier to slip the hose on to. I guess the short one is for skid plates that are closer to the valve which would cause the valve to be lower than the skid and be vulnerable? Not exactly sure why you would need a short one other than that. I doubt anyone makes a skid that would be that close to the drain plug where you would need a shorter Fumoto valve.

I use the security clamp (just a small piece of plastic) which comes with the valve but I doubt it is really necessary.
 
I have been using the Fumoto valve for about 40,000 miles, 5K change interval, with Bud Built skid. I love it and it makes zero mess with the little hose thing during drain. It is kind of hard to get your fingers in there to open it and this is why I haven't installed the safety thing as I dont think I can get in there easy enough. The only scenario I can imagine is snow shoveling into the front skid and pushing back to the valve and somehow opening the valve. I dont see any other way that something could accidentally open that valve.

I was considering the Valvomax but it's too big to get fingers in there with the Shrockworks skid.

For your Fumoto, did you install it after the skid by chance? That's what I would be doing but it'll be a pain to have to uninstall the skid.
 
It's been so long since I installed it, I'm not sure, but there is enough space between the plate and the drain hole; just need small hands
