There's a guy where I work who is interested in buying a 3rd Gen 4Runner. I have spoken to him about it a bit, and pointed him to this forum to read and learn.
This last week, we're talking about how I met another owner through this forum and he helped me with some maintenance on my 4Runner. Then we were talking about some other threads on here, like the guy who got his rig stuck and someone else from the forum went out on the trail and drug him out.
He makes the comment, "yeah, those 3'ers seem to be a pretty cool community."
I say, "what did you say? 3'ers? Where'd you come up with that?"
Him: "That's what they call themselves on that forum -- 3'ers."
Me: "I've never heard of that, and I've been on that forum like 4 years. Show me what you mean."
He sits at the computer, pulls up T4R.org, and shows me....
....I start laughing uncontrollably.
He says, "what?"
Me: "You slapnut! 3RZ is the name of the 4 cylinder engine that the 3rd Gen 4Runner has, not a pet name for 3rd Gen owners!!"
I dunno if he has actually registered here or not...perhaps he'll step out of the shadows and man up to his humorous ignorance.
