Fuse Box Question

Hi Guys,
Newbie trying to learn basics here.

I am trying to install a ARB compressor and want to place the switch in the engine bay rather than bringing it to the cab. Hence trying to find a fuse spot which would read 12V only when the key is in ON position

I opened up the fuse box in the engine bay and starting poking around with my multi meter. With the key outside the ignition fob, I couldn't find any terminal that showed a 0V reading (All of them with the exception of 37-40) showed 12V.
37-38 doesnt show any reading with the key in the ON position too! I suppose these are the low beam lights and I didnt turn them ON when checking. I have no idea what 39 and 40 are and what get the 12V to them running.

Does anyone know which one to tap into for the RED-YEL of the ARB loom inside the engine bay fuse box?

The fuse box diagram is here: http://www.autogenius.info/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Toyota-4runner-Fifth-Generation-2013-fuse-box-engine-compartment.jpg

Other have tried to find this as well. I believe the result was the same as you found. Under the hood no such fuse exists. They area all hot.

So the only option is to wire this from inside the cabin back to the engine?
Do you know if it matters I wire it to the always hot terminal?

I wired mine as you are suggesting. It does not have a switch in the cab.
I wired it directly from the battery with an inline fuse to the switch (always hot)

When I want to run the compressor, I open the hood, flip the switch and it runs fine. When I'm done I shit it off close the hood.

Here's a link to my install.

I guess this is what I will end up doing too.
The only thing to note would be aware of the battery discharging when using the compressor.

That's an issue no matter how it's wired if you 're not careful...but easy enough to fix, just start the engine while using the compressor.
