Future 4Runner

While at the dealer the other day with my 2004 Sport I looked at a 2012 just to see.
While conversing with the salesman I mentioned it would be nice if Toyota would make a 4Runner with a diesel.

He said that is in the works. Apparently BMW and Toyota are woking together on both hybrid and diesel power.

Has anyone else heard this or is it a tale?

Thanks ,Bruce

There are japan model turbo diesel 3rd gens if you dident know about those, i havent heard of anything new being in the works but would be a nice option

I'd love a turbo diesel 4runner. LOL, find a nice 7.3 turbo diesel from an F-250, and custom fit it to a 4runner would be the ****.

I don't think you will find BMW engines in our Toyota's. Toyota has worked with a lot of companies on hybrid technology.

If only they would offer the twin turbo 35i engine on some Toyota models!!!

Pshh why would you want a powerchoke? Go with the best diesel engine out there a cummins! A nice 5.9 straight piped in a lifted 3rd get would be so sick!

Eh. The 7.3 was and is still an indestructable work of art. I wish they'd bring it back. & its the Ford diesel going into.the new military vehicles. ;)

The 7.3 is powerstrokes is a good diesel engine bit it still is not the best engine, it's clearly a cummins, if the cummins isn't better then why are so many ford owners doing a cummins swap into their ford? I've never herd of a power stroke replacing a cummins in a dodge. Hence ford owners wanting the best diesel engine, the cummins
