fx 35 vs 03 SE 4 runner

my friend just bought a 05 infinity fx 35.. and I have a v8 SE 4runner...

he talks about how fast his ride is and everyting..

what do you guys predict? on take off and top speed... both cars are stock....


can i burn him, put half a car on him, or see his smoke?

Both 4WD/AWD?

The weight/hp/tq are similar.

I think the 4Runner gearing will make a win hard.

You're setup to tow and offroad, FX is all on road performance.

But a good driver can beat a bad driver.

Be safe. Take it to a track, timeslips don't lie or cheat.
 
Had a ride in a 04 FX35 and i do say she packs a punch even with those stock 20's. But she's all road performance alright, and in my opinion it wouldn't be easy to win over the FX35. She pulls hard from the start, and i'd think if i were in your seat i would be hearing that purr from its exhaust ahead of you in my opinion.

Bluto has a point though... All on the driver itself.

Road and Track 03 FX35 data

0-60 mph 7.3
1/4 mile, sec @ mph 15.49 @ 91.00

Looks like a drivers game to me as long as the 04's don't have more hp/gearing difference.

Make sure it is an FX35 (V6) not a FX45 (V8)!

what are the quarter mile specs for the 03 v8 4 runner?

and yes, he's driving a v6 but the thing feels torquey...
 
Race him on the street but only if he will race you offroad. That way, if you lose onroad after beating him offroad you can just leave him and his 20's stuck offroad;)
 
I think the FX35 will beat you since it is a crossover built for on road performance. Unless you have a supercharger somewhere :)
Man those FX35 are uncomfortable. You feel everything on the road, every bump, every rock......
 
I agree with the other posters. Its going to be difficult to win this as the FX is designed more for on road performance. I believe the engine is a variant of the engine in the 350Z

If you are the better driver, you may edge him out.

Race him off-road. You'll definitely win. :D
 
Racing

At the start, simply ram him and push him off the road. Then proceed to win the race. The 4runner should be tough enough to take a whack or two and still be mobile :D
 
I raced a friend's FX45 knowing I would lose. To my suprise, it was nose to nose until about 45 mph, where he pulled away hard and my 2003, non-vvti V8 just kinda choked on his exhaust... :D

I'd bet a vvti V8 would do well against an FX35, especially in the 0-60.

After having said that, I don't know why I drive my truck like a sports car all the time... I'm seriously thinking of putting bigger tires on it to try to curb my accleration-happy right foot! (and for better off-roading capabilities ofcourse)
