Just tried to install a AVS bug deflector 2 which I received from amazon. Amazon website indicated that it would fit my 2014 trail prem. It does not, the hood won't close. Call Lund international and was told part number 25053 are for 2010-13 4runners. Asked if I could have the part number for the 2014 and was told there is none. It's strange though I read some threads on this product and some 2014 and 16 T4R owners indicated that this will fit, although they were not a 14 trail. Will be sending it back. Just a heads up.

I installed 25053 that I got from Amazon on my 2015 trail with no issues...do you have a picture of why it keeps your hood from closing?
It was hard to tell what was blocking it but it seems to be the front/ bottom of the plastic bug shield. I don't think there is any way to install this thing wrong. Insert the 6 square plastic pieces under the hood of the runner the use the screws and washers to attach the deflector. close the hood.

I agree, it should be a pretty straight forward thing to slap on and mine was. That's why the other poster could be right and it's mislabeled. If you have a picture of it, I can go out front here and compare it to mine and see if it's the same thing.
Not sure about the "mislabeled" since the manufacturer had only 2010-13 in their system for the runner. in any case I sent it back already, will now probably order the OEM which I had before for two years( it was beat up like crap). Was just trying to get a cheaper alternative. Thanks for the all the suggestions....

The hood and fit of the hood against the front facia and grille is the same from 2010 to current.

What I meant by mislabeled was the wrong product in the box. Like I mentioned, the part 25053 worked perfectly for me on my 2015. I think it was in the 50 dollar range from Amazon a couple of months ago.

I have been strongly considering add a AVS Bug II to my 2016, but does it really work. Lately I have been traveling more for work/life and the bugs are killing me. Washer fluid will not remove them and I have to either power wash or get soap and water to clean them off buy hand.
I am not really concerned with the look, I can take it or leave it. I am just looking to reduce the bug guts on my window.
I have searched and read many threads about them but most people talk about the look or fit. I need to know if they work or are mainly for looks.

Fits just fine, but the part# I got is 23071. *EDIT* Mine's the reg AVS Bug Deflector not the Bug Deflector II. Not sure the difference.

After playing with it for about 45 minutes, I've figured out that the bug deflector touches the top of the front fascia and tops of the headlamp assemblies. The gap between the hood and the bumper/headlamps is fairly small and the tolerances are tight. Apparently mine does shut but you have to slam it pretty hard. I'm not keen on having the bug deflector rub against the bumper and headlights like that. Sigh.
