Garage/gate opener remote

I have a 2015 Trail edition that did not come with the Homelink remote gate/garage opener in the overhead console.

I would like to install the same exact oem unit that comes stock with other vehicles. Not an aftermarket unit.

I am assuming that there is a module that installs in that overhead console?
Has anyone purchased and installed this?

My Trail edition comes with locking diff, crawl control, etc functions, which do take up some of the space above.
Is this possible?

This may not be the exact one you need, but I think they are an attractive option. I believe you can get them from Toyota as well.

If it makes any difference, you'll probably have to pull the overhead console out either way to install it.

The lack of a homelink at first bugged me. I went as far as sourcing the parts on ebay, and/or buying a homelink mirror similar to my old tundra.

In the end, I went to home depot, and bought a tiny keychain size universal remote for 25 dollars, and I just double sided tape it to the roof where the homelink is suppose to be. I've been happy ever since.

Ditto and I just keep the remote in the sunglass holder that's in the overhead of my 2016 SR5. Since I wear Transition lense glasses the holder is not used for glasses. The remote I got has 3 buttons. One for my neighborhood gate, one for my garage and one for my daughter's garage.
