Garmin Nav Setup,

I have a Garmin Nuvi, in my 04 4 Runner Sport edition, my issue is the plug in power adapter in the cigarette lighter looks dorky and I have cable running all over the dash, I am curious if anyone with a portable GPS and ran the power cable cleanly, maybe under the dash,

Thank you,

Thank you,

The cleanest way is to just go have Best Buy or someplace hardwire it for you. It'll cost about $30. I ran mine cleanly under the dash by mounting it in the left corner of the window, then ran it down the left side of the dash.

This picture is from a radar detector mounting, before I got my Garmin but it shows the rubber seam that you can tuck the wire under. Just pull it up a little, then press the wire under it. You still have the ugly cig lighter though, which is why I recommend hardwiring it.

I couldn't agree more.

I just ordered a power outlet today with a hinged cover and I plan on mounting it in the glove box "area". I'm thinking underneath the secret tray on the far left side to not interfere with the air filter removal. I keep my Tom Tom mounted below the hazard light button on the suction mount so this spot would allow minimal wire exposure when done. And when the GPS is not in the car the cord can easily be put in the glove box without disconnecting the other end.

I'll take pics once I get it in and installed. Hopefully it's here by the weekend.

Where did you get the power cord with hinged cover, my issue is the cig lighter cover is always open and it does not look good. I am thinking hardwired maybe a way to go, where would you hard wire it from, the battery , the fuse box,,

Mine is like Lowpro's except I just use the Garmin suction cup that came with my 650. The light grey bezel is very smooth and the suction cup holds very well.

The only drawback is pass cup holder access is somewhat impaired but it's a minimal annoyance rather than a problem. Reception is fine, I never have signal/reception issues.

I did exactly what lowpro did as well. Except I used the pro clip to mount my sat radio. I bought an additonal outlet from radio shack ($6) and hid everything under the center console.
