Gas Light ON - How much fuel is left?

Just was wondering how many gallons are left when the FUEL light first comes on? Im pretty good on how long I can drive, but just guessing can get me in trouble....especially if im on the highway.

i think its right around 1.75 gallons. i can go 35 miles once the light comes on (from experience)

I have a 1993 4Runner 3.0 V6 and mine seems to have 3.2 gallons left. If I fill up when the gas light first comes on I usually put somewhere near 14 gallons in the tank. My owners manual says that I have a 17.2 gallon tank.

I wont disagree with the owners manual, but I have pushed to the limit.. and I have and I have put more than 17.2 gal in a tank. I usually do not top off either.

When i changed my fuel filter, I used the write-up on YotaTech and it said there could be a gallon of fuel in the lines too....so that could be added to the theory.

Your light works?
I've had over 5 'runners through the years, and none of 'em had a workin' fuel light!
(Save the last one, but I fixed that)
I can drive aprox. 50-70 miles on the lamp, but I think it's abit less for the 3VZ-E. 35 should be resonable. =)
