I average about 15 around town and 19.8 on the highway. That is lifted on 265/70s with 375k and counting on the clock.

Mine is a 99 v6 5spd that I've been driving since July--in the summer I get 20 mpg on mixed travel but now that it is colder I've been getting about 18 mpg. I bought it in S. Carolina and drove it to New Hampshire and my best tank was 24 mpg. THE WORST thing for mpg is using your breaks and over working the engine at speed or acceleration. Not that I drive like the elderly but I leave space and keep the speed as consistent as possible. I can drive the 20 min. to work with out the engine speed going over 2000 rpms. I am 5sp bias--I just feel I have more control over the truck.

I have one of each and can tell you there very close to each other fuel milage wise. About 17 average.

1999 auto with 206k, 3" suspension 285 a/t tires, 4.30 gears, intake and exhaust. I get 18-20 pretty consistent highway and city with winter blend fuel, I was knocking on 21+ till the fuel changed end of summer but keep in mind this is driving trying to get good mileage.
A friend gets similar with a stick but i know he drives it much harder.

Right now I have a 99 SR5 manual tranny with 142K on the odometer. I actually only get between 17-18 whether in the city or on the highway. It's turning 2800 RPM's at 70 MPH. I have owned several automatics and they always averaged 19 MPG combined. I know the stick is supposed to get better mileage but not this one. It has new plugs and wires, new timing Belt and pump and always fresh oil. This is just letting you know that the 5 speeds don't always get better mileage.

I think that on the highway will be similar. I have read that rear ratio on most MTs are 4.30 and the AT is 3.9 or 4.10. MY 98 SR5 4x4 gets 24+ at a steady 55-65 mph using CC. I had a 95 pickup with a MT and got about the same. FYI. Myt conclusion is that the dif ratio is a more important factor than the transmission/.

2000 4x4 3.4 auto

I'd say I average 19 to 20 on the hwy, but have gotten 21 a few times. Around town 16-18.

My dad has a 97 4 cyl 5 spd 4x4 and I don't think he get's much, if any, better than mine.

Normally get about 17 city in my 98 SR5 6cyl automatic transmission
