Help with wiring harness

Hello, I’m trying to find the answer to the following question.  I need to replace the dash wiring harness on my 2001 4runner. There are several on eBay. Some of them say they fit 99 2004.  is this correct? Does it not matter if you have a four-wheel-drive or not I guess manual or automatic as well, although I don’t think there was a manual made after 2000. Is there any other place somebody can recommend where I can get a harness from? Is there a label part number on my harness and if so, where is it?  thank you very much.

I would think the 99-04 you describe would be for the first gen Tacoma. If I had to guess, without seeing a diagram, the 01-02s are probably unique harnesses compared to prior years, at least judging based off of what I know about the later HVAC systems.

Manuals were not made in 2001 or 2002, so that's not an issue. I think the harness may vary slightly depending if you have 2x4 or 4x4 because of some of the cluster lights and other things.

Your best bet would likely be finding a harness from a 2001 or 2002 4Runner, and to make it easier on yourself, try finding one with the same transmission as yours.

I would use the same part number on the wiring harness that is currently on yours as there are differences in the wiring harnesses per year and lots of times per model or feature set.
