Gas Mileage on the V8

Don't know about the 05's and later, but the early 4th gen 4Runners MPG is so inaccurate as to be useless. I've kept a spreadsheet to track my mileage and MPG since the day I drove the truck out of the dealers lot and my actuals haven't once matched up with the computer estimates. The computer consistently gives a mileage reading of 2 or 3 MPG too high, even when I reset at the time of a fill up and check the displayed MPG against actuals when I fill up again. It

i live in nyc and gas prices are ridiculous and im lucky if i get 13mpg it sucks that the gas station people know my name and laugh everytime i fill up i should of brought a yaris

2005 4x4 V8 - I got about 16-17 (calculated) when new with winter grade gas. Now, with 5K miles and summer gas, I'm getting about 18 mpg (calculated). That's a suburban commuting, no interstate or gridlock.

My computer is usually high by about 1.2 mpg.

Best gas mileage so far was a 90 mile trip with few stops, at 45-50 mph on flat, straight roads and a slight tail wind - 24.5 mpg (calculated). I'm guessing I could have gotten 25.5 mpg if it had been during the summer!
