Ok, what are you guys averaging and what is your set up.. 275 KOS and Shrockwork sliders with Southern Styles bumper =15.5 MPG..

How can I get this higher? I'm thinking of going back to stock tires and ditching the sliders.. My 4Runner goes off road about twice a year. Killing my mileage by "add ons" is killing my wallet..

I drive a stock 2018 off road premium. I drive about 90% highway and have been averaging 20mpg. Over the course of a road trip, which is mostly highway, I usually average 22mpg. My last trip was up to the White Mountains. About 500 miles total up and back and I averaged 21.9. Was about the same in my 2016 SR5. I use my 4wd for snow in the winter and driving on the beach and sand trails in the summer so I don’t need sliders or anything beyond the stock tires.

I have the same size/model tires, a 1.5" lift, and a Prinsu roof rack so in regards to weight vs. drag we have very comparable builds. I average 16.8 with mixed driving and 18-18.5 on the highway. Granted I don't live in the mountains, it's pretty flat down here in Texas.

2018 TRD Pro. average mileage is 17.5. Stock tires. i averaged just over 15 MPG from Cincinnati to Taylor Park CO (1300 miles) towing an open, flat 3 bike motorcycle, 3 people and food and gear for 8 days of trail riding. I added N-Fab nerf bars (wife is super short) when i got back 3 weeks ago.

That’s about what I get with RCI sliders, Front CBI steel bumper and the same tires on three inch lift.
 
Factory stock mpg

I have a stock 2019 TRDOR with about 2500 miles on it. Average so far is 21.5 mpg.
 
Stock 2017 TRD Pro with C-4 Sliders. I averaged around 20 mpg on a recent 1,700 mile trip that had two one-way drives of around 750 miles and the rest was a mix of city and country driving while at the destination.

I cannot say that I have noted much of a difference in mileage after adding the sliders. I am pretty conservative with my speed and was typically driving 70 to 75 mph when on the highway. The highway driving including driving the PA Turnpike from the Pittsburgh area to Harrisburg, so some hills involved.
 
2018 TRDORP totally stock, including stock tires

Around San Diego: city stop/start and lots of hills... though a large portion of my driving is highway commute--for which I'm generally not stuck in traffic:

Average around 15.5 MPG

I did a 4,700 road trip in Sept/Oct. Averaged 20.4 MPG on the road trip. The trip included a lot of mountains. And driving 80 MPH.

So the thing is capable of better gas mileage... just apparently not in San Diego. And I'm not a leadfoot....
 
Im averaging 17.0 combined mpg with about 80% city and 20% highway miles.

2015 SR5 with 2.5" lift on Toyo AT2s 285/70/17, AFE intake, pedal comander (city -5), Pelfreybilt aluminum front bumper, Pelfreybilt steel rock sliders
 
That's a common compliant of most owners, I think the 4runner feels really underpowered for a V6 and fuel mileage is not great even with stock setup and tires.
 
2017 trd or. 17.5 mpg avg. I tow a jet ski randomly but 17 to 17.5 is pretty consistent. I had an alignment/balance issue when they were put on at 500 miles and i was at 14.5. But after that got sorted i was at 17.5

Thanks everyone.. I didn't buy it for the mileage either but darn, some of you are getting great mileage. I noticed the other guy with a 2015 is also getting junk mileage. I wonder if something was different with that year model?

Going back to stock tires I think and take off sliders.. Heck, I never get anywhere I'd need or want them anyway.. :dance:
